  1. It is a hire boat, City Boats I think. Nice looking boats.
  2. Good article. Enjoyed that, especially the friendly advice on where his boat should be.
  3. That's a really good price. Just a shame I don't need one.
  4. I take them as I find them and you get all sorts on the Broads. Catch Phrase from the Film Cool Runnings is "Rise Above It". Great advice and does not spoil your mood. People with Private boats have made a big investment, whether it be a big GP or a small used boat, and like anyone who has invested in something they will be very protective. When you see a Hire boat coming towards you you have no idea if it has an experience crew or complete novices who have just picked up the boat. Best advice is to take it easy and get used to being able to use the throttle gently and smoothly. Some people seem to have two speeds zero or max and have not managed to smoothly use the Throttle. Remember there are numpties out there, not that many and they come in both Hire and Private varieties. Just make sure you are not one of them.
  5. Enjoyed that, thanks for taking the time. We will be there soon. Changed the gas, cartridge and clip tonight. Now dated until 2018.
  6. When mooring or manoeuvring around other boats do so slowly. There is no need to use lots of throttle.
  7. Welcome to the forum. There is a guy using the name Apollo on the ybw.com site, posted in 11/2010 mentions that he used to own it.
  8. We are looking to try and get through in a couple of weeks time. Last time I got through was in a small dingy with a seagull engine when we were staying in a house boat on Acle Dyke, must have been forty years ago!
  9. it only takes a short lapse in concentration when you are close to the bank.
  10. Is this a Scottish laptop Iain? If so stop giving it double whiskies for a few days and it should start to behave :)
  11. Have you returned from the Dark Side then Alan?
  12. Didn't know so many forumites were so close, were are not far from junction 4a on the M3. We usually leave very early on the Friday morning to get to Lodden, park at Maffetts and walk in for lunch. Our favourite is Swallow. We will be on her August 7th for the week. Breaking with tradition and coming up night before though this time. Swallow is a lovely boat plenty of room for two. Handles like a dream. Highly recommend it. Booked her for 2016 already. There is a step between the saloon and the rest of the boat, soon get used to it.
  13. They had an impromptu performance of it at a Boy George concert, I think it was Dec 1984, great fun. I am sure that was where they got the idea for the concert.
  14. Direct and to the point....not the ending that I was expecting. Makes the point very well though.
  15. HimAndy, welcome from me too.
  16. Enough explosive and it could turn into a lifting bridge........only once though.
