Anyone Tried One Of These?

The windscreen wiper motor has burnt out on our little Norman 20 and while trying to find a replacement, came across this...

Sheridan Marine, the Freeman specialists at Moulsford, Nr Goring on Thames used to sell loads of them. I fitted one to an old tractor cab and the passenger side of a Land Rover that only had a drivers wiper. ( might well as not had anything). Used with that screen clear fluid they are ok.

I reckon with a bit on ingenuity, you could rig this up to some kind of motor......

I must admit, that was my first thought! In our case, easier and cheaper to gaffer tape a sponge to the end of a stick and reach round the side of windscreen!

In the old days that was all you got on a hire boat, if you had a wiper at all!

They are totally reliable, variable speed and need no wiring up as their operation is mandraulic.

That's just what we have on No Worries - hasn't let us down yet! I did think about electricating it but after measuring a mates S1 Landie motor I reckon it'd add nearly 3" to the minimum air draught - sometimes 3" can make all the difference!

We used to have a manual wiper on our old Freeman 23. Was OK for  light showers, but got to be a bit tedious if you had to use it for prolonged periods.

I have an excellent system on Nipper, I get the other half to put on a coat ( don't want her catching a cold) go outside with the karcher vac and clean the window when I cannot see, only breaks down when the battery goes flat.
