Wooden Boat Wash

Hi 

any suggestions on what’s the best thing to clean down a wooden boat with both painted and varnished woodwork

River water and a car washing sponge. I try to do it just after its rained so the muck is nice and soft.

If you need something that works a bit harder Ecover do a range which is environment friendly.

Never use a sponge especially on a car they hold grit, use a micro fibre mitt with some car based shampoo.

Their varnished wooden boats always looked immaculate back in the days

Fresh water with a bit of added Ecover. Don't tend to use river water because it is often filthy and contains bits of weed, grit, and unmentionables.

We just use holy water, the budget is blown already!

Warm tap water with a weak dilution of general purpose Flash, rinse off with clean warm tap water n microfibre cloths

How about Potter Higham and Wroxham - raise them a bit/ a lot and add some rollers top and sides

Or Ludham Bridge could be ideal with top roller lowering from the bridge fascia so as not to obstruct air draft and it has tow paths either side for the side rollers. English Heritage not involved either.
