Lathams Potter.

We was in Potter today.In recent weeks Lathams have installed more freezers.So there's more meat and fish products available. Handy if you moor at Potter.

Useful info, I did notice their food offering has increased over the past year or so.

Excellent, frozen tatt now. The wife will be chuffed.

Not frozen tatt.It has increased what looks like good quality frozen food.Okay fresh food is always a better choice. But that is the only shop at Potter in walking distance for those moored there.

Mums go to Iceland, Boaters go to Tatland!

Given the size of the freezer compartment on most boats I should be able to fill mine for 99p 

I can just hear the conversation now,

Mum "What do you want kids. Chicken nuggets or chips?"

Kids "Both"

Mum "Well you can't, I've only space in the freezer for one or the other" 

I'm not sure the investment in new freezers and the expansion of the frozen food section is really aimed at or much use to boaters.

Might need to take a chainsaw to the pizzas to fit them in my boat freezer compartment!

I love  it when people  are negative.Really come on it gives choice to boaters and locals.Yes boats don't have freezers,but has improved  options. It's a standing   yoke Lathams is tatland.Which I think is a bit unfair.

Frozen food in the fridge will defrost gently while keeping your 12v power usage down as the fridge is being cooled, don't knock it.

In all fairness, Latham's may well well tat, but it's damned good tat. Probably the best tat in Norfolk.

Certainly the best tat in Potter! Think you might find a much bigger selection of tat in Grot Yarmouth!

I agree not many, but some of us do have a full size freezer!  My son and daughter are up next week so I'm going to need it !!

A tip,there's available  now frozen mince,chicken and sausages.Mince can be turned  into chilli,or cottage pie.Spag bol,etc.Sausages,breakfast, toad in the hole,bangers and mash etc.Chicken casserole, chicken curry.

All said tounge in cheek from me, not being negative at all. Maybe some ppl need to go to lathams and see if they sell sense of humours. Personally not my thing but I enjoy the coffee shop and the bakery, the rest of it, no thanks. But if its good for both the boating and local community I'm all for it. 😁

As to Latham's selling all sorts of things quite Cheap Clothes and other things but not Food not even Frozen Food comes cheap but it is handy to getting it either to thawing it out for the meal for that day or keep it in the fridge for the next day's meal.

I remember it and how it used to be in the late 60’s and early 70’s.  It’s certainly a very different place now.

Just think, another couple of weeks and all the Christmas tat will be there.  Somewhere else off my list of places to visit in September! 😡

I vividly remember them having loads of china and ceramics.  My mum managed to buy a replacement teapot to complete her Royal Doulton tea set that she’d been given as a wedding present, but broken the original one.  A few years later, I bought a Portmeirion coffee set from there.  It was a ‘second’ but good enough and a massive saving on a proper one.  I don’t remember it being as full of tat as it is now, though.

Up until a few years ago, there was more clothing there, I think.  Certainly, the range of available products has increased massively, as has the proportion of tat, but go to any QD branch now and you’ll find fairly much what you find at Lathams, but without the feel of Potter (or the bakery.)

That’s my take on Lathams.  I didn’t visit The Broads from 1975 until 1987 and it changed dramatically in that time.
