A great turnout for tonight's quiz. 

Glasses were charged and raised in the break to our missing team member Mike.

In joint 2nd place were SteveO and Turnoar with 10 points. The winner was TigerHawk with 13 points. He will be next weeks host.

Thanks BT that is why I was there last night.

Normally I am too tired on Friday to take part in the quiz.

However I felt I had to be there last night because of Mike.

Met him a few times over the last 20 years and will miss him very much.

Great quiz last night Steve

Just to let everyone know the Chat Room is offline at the moment as I am trying to sort out the delay problems experienced by some of the users during the quiz.

Dont worry it will be working again in time for next weeks quiz with Bern in the chair,

Last night's quiz was well-attended and closely contested, but the eventual winner was Bern with 10 points. Arthur was 2nd on 8 and NikO was in 3rd place with 7. Congratulations to Bern, who will be in the QM chair next Friday.

There is a serious problem with the chat room.

I sorted out th lag problem a couple of days ago by clearing the database.

However on logging on to the chat today i got just a blank page.

I have found the problem but am not sure how i am going to fix it.

The hosting provider has updated PHP version 7 to version 8 which seems to be incompatible with the chat software.

Sorry about this but i will try to solve the problem and  will keep you posted.

Hopefully may be in time for friday but depends on all sorts of factors.

I have moved the chat on to another server where i have downgraded the php version to 7.1

All appears to be working but i may need to spend some time installing a secure certificate for the webpage otherwise some browsers will not allow accces.

Worked for me Arthur, but Firefox threw a Cert warning

The chat room works for me too Arthur, but Chrome complained about it being not secure - https://

 

For the SSL certificate, we use a free one at work through Lets Encrypt - https://letsencrypt.org/

The only downside is that it needs renewing every 90 days.

On my ipad (very old), using my phone as a hotspot, I get ‘cannot verify server identity’ 

‘cannot be verified by safari. Review the certificate details to continue’. 
 

on pressing ‘details’ I get ‘plesk’ not trusted expires 25/9/24

looks like there is an option to press ‘trust’ which I’m not sure whether I should. 
 

Going back, if I just press ‘continue’ instead of ‘details’, I can log on. And it lets me write something.

I am in the process of installing a security certificate on the new chat URL.

This should solve the problem of the security warnings you are getting.
