  1. FIVE new members in the last two days. Welcome to you all!
  2. And one for Friday Girl please, JanetAnne.
  3. She looks a nice trim little boat, Simon. What's the headroom like inside?
  4. We were in there in the Summer, Neil. IMHO not as good as the Huntsman.
  5. You are writing about the King's Head, Ian? Your comment above is under the title "Strumpshaw Huntsman"........
  6. You win, John................. hands down!
  7. I would have thought a "Vet" would have known what faeces are, Trevor!
  8. Ditto Mary-Jane and me. We arrived at our surgery yesterday morning at 11.40, 10 & 12 minutes ahead of our appointments. We were on our way home before we should even have started! So I think your lot at Stalham should look at their system, Q!
  9. You are quite correct. Here it is in black and white! " Field current supply is provided from two different sources - from the alternator itself, via the diode trio, and from the battery, via the alternator warning lamp. When you first get in the car and turn the key on, the engine is not running and the alternator is not spinning. At this time, the voltage/current source for the field current is from the battery, through the ignition switch, and through the warning lamp. After the engine is started, and the alternator is up to speed, the output of the diode trio is fed back to the regulator, and serves as a source of current for the field current. At this time, the alternator is self sustaining, and the battery is no longer needed to power the electrical system"
  10. And the roof raised to give 6ft 2ins headroom..... I've still got the scar!
  11. Lovely pics and I do like the nav log, David. Which app do you use, please?
  12. Sounds good! Another place to visit on our trip oop North when it happens!
  13. What a lovely start to your holiday tale and I'm really looking forward to the rest! Please don't worry about this thread turning "into another of those Lowliner bashing threads". I'm sure it won't.
  14. I always used to drop the main and come in under jib alone, Peter.
  15. Ditto, with both 12V and 24V gennies on the main (propulsion engine) and 12V only on the secondary (Alternator engine, which produces 42A at 230V). We get round this with a 24V battery charger which cuts in when the Alt engine is running. As Jonzo says, BB do like to play with the electrics!
  16. Trev, Hi. That hasn't happened to us before (probably more luck than judgement) but it does go to show that you should always put at least a couple of loops around the post before the two half hitches or whatever you use. That way if your mooring rope does tighten you'll still be able to undo it.
  17. I've banged on about this years ago when one such boat took out the gel coat on our NEW previous boat.....
  18. Friday Girl is an Alpha 35 FC and we absolutely love her!
  19. We had quite a feast.... And the odd glass or three!
  20. Having a beer with Bob, Cheryl, John & Jo. It's just unbelievable, the weather in late September!
  21. Here's a couple I've just taken here in sunny, warm and windy, Surlingham! It's VERY low water!
