  1. When I was racing in the early 70's my helm, who was the National 470 champion, would even hail "Cardboard" when we were on port tack................

  3. Sounds as though you made the right one, Keith!
  4. A lovely read, Biscuiteer... looking forward to the rest!
  5. And another warm Welcome Aboard from us, Trudie (Guinness)! We hope to hear a bit about you when you have the time.
  6. A Warm "Welcome Aboard" the friendly forum from us, Mick and Yvonne.
  7. All the Very Best Wishes from us, Robin! What a wonderful way to enter boat-ownership! :clap (Does this mean you won't be doing any more bloggs on hire-boats?)
  8. A very warm Welcome Aboard, TheQ and many thanks for such an informative post. It is just such posts from experienced sailors that help us to understand how you look at things.
  9. And at the top end of the river Brede in Rye, where we've spent many a peaceful night aground! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/The+Ship+Inn/@50.9492962,0.7283923,228m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xdbd8fb72b00523ed
  10. We keep ours, for the rest of the year, in the locker where the Webasto Airtop 5000 lives. It's always dry and we've never had a problem with it in nearly ten years!
  11. Well that would put them off, wouldn't it, Bob? :shocked
  12. A warm Welcome Aboard from us, Pie!
  13. And JM also posted "On the other hand we have the development of the 'super cruiser', clearly aimed at Telegraph reading Waitrose customers" I really don't think you should tar us as that, Peter.. our Friday Girl is far from one of those.
  14. I'm probably repeating a previous comment but what really does annoy me is the amount of time spent on this lot. Apart from the heroic efforts that have to be put in by volunteers we all pay for the Coastguards! Mary-Jane and I do a lot to support the RLNI and it's a pity to see all that hard-earned money thrown at idiots like these.
  15. We quite like to read the Sunday Telegraph.......................... :shocked
  16. We've still not opened last year's wild plum vodka, Jill!
  17. Santed, Hi. When you joined in '08 you may probably have read Brian's (one of the originators of the NBN) post which even then said: Posted 30 September 2007 - 09:41 PM Full Membership make 50 Sensible posts that have made a contribution, either amusing or informative. then the mods will post your proposer and seconder thread in the full members area. You will be proposed then seconded by existing full members. if there are no objections then you will be made up to a full member and gain access to the members sections as well as the sections you can see now. So it's not a new rule that we have inflicted upon the Membership. If you were able to go back a few years (in the Full Members section) you'd find in a topic that we had a poll on just this subject... A large majority (92%) voted for just that.
  18. You really can go off people, John!
  19. Do we have to go through all this again, please? :cry
  20. You will find some Full Members from way back with less than 50 posts. That's because when we changed over to IP board lots of older posts were deleted. Some of us lost hundreds!
  21. "What has happened to the so called Summer." Well, it's arrived with a bang this morning, here on Riverside in Norwich!
