  1. 50 shades of gray springs to mind ................not the pleasure type either ? finny
  2. And that's what happens . Hoseasons don't own the yards they are only booking agents and unless this Equity company that has just bought hoseasons plans to invest in its own yards I cannot see how they can dictate........the plot thickens finny
  3. Thank you and it's the flexibility I need .my boat when I had her was great for two ok for four but out of the question when it was for the six of us and many a time would sit there bobbing on her mooring whilst we was out and about on a hire boat that could accommodate then of course there is the time factor through working shifts which we both do .effectivly I had a bit of plastic floating on a marina which only became a boat when we could get our backsides on her - all things considered selling was a no brainer which is why I keep a keen eye on the hire market and what direction it moves finny
  4. Thank you spider which also makes Martham good value another interesting feature is you can hire on a daily basis and subject to availability would enable flexibility not everyone works 9 to 5 mon to fri finny
  5. Martham is about the only yard I have never hired from .they state full first tank included surely on return you pay on the fill up or is it like ferry marine an all in price ?? finny
  6. The " Merry christmas " remark speaks volumes unfortunately Finny
  7. I suspect some rather non pragmatic risk assessment has take place and is filtering down the line for me the clue is within Simons phone conversation and the words " In line " are used finny
  8. I hear what you are saying MM bit extreme when you throw in a hire boat into the Stituation though as regards any male solo hirer then rather than a life jacket boxing gloves may take care of any " duty of care " thats if it floats yer boat finny
  9. The way it has been done would leave a sour taste in my mouth too Simon .....sometimes it aint what you do its the way that you do it and this is very bad customer care .i can only assume that there is some financial downside to this but considering the small amount of solo hirers out there honouring present bookings would have been far more understanding finny
  10. I kinda got the "Trust "feeling with the product quite a few of the posts concentrated on worktop bench testing before installation to their pride and joy .....its all interesting stuff Finny
  11. iam not good with the linky things robin but someone is saying they paid just under £200 for a complete 5kw unit tank, controller, pump and all pipework . in years past i would knock goods from China on quality but considering most branded products are out source i often wonder ? finny
  12. Iam currently toying with the idea in buying an overnighter camper van VW type so like most folk looking the facts i hit the forums .its winter so like the boating forums heating is on a agenda often and they all seem to be raving over these far much cheaper priced blown heaters i know i cannot insert links to other forums but its very interesting and i wonder if anyone else on here is keeping an eye on things ?? Finny
  13. my love affair with the broads started when my mum said i had to go with dad on a fishing trip at the grand age of 7 .couldnt really be arsed with the fishing but the pub at night was great finny
  14. Another good thread coming through - good luck with the re-furb Finny
  15. My cure for sea sickness is ...........just keep on Barton broad Finny
  16. As I read the thread the boat came with a no expense spared impeccable history also the hand over at the previous owners expense with Robin was done by the company that looked after this boat - it then got a shake down by the Stalham Navy to make sure they was up to standard - which it was before she was put to sea also here on this forum the credentials of the crew was widely know - had the been a free passage up for grabs then the list would have been too long with regards Robin having a wobble - then it would not surprise me for one minute.......his world has been running at ninty mph for the last few weeks and we are all only human anyway the boat is where Robin wanted her . I hope he can now chill out and start to get the feel of her and enjoy at his own pace - you simply cannot buy experience you have to put the time and I think the broads is the perfect place to cut your teeth with such type of boat - so Robin enjoy oh and can we stop all this shite and get back how this thread was intended to be fuming Finny
  17. I think you are right but at what price ? I fear it will price many out of boating ownership and as far as the broads are concerned from a boating perspective we are seeing losses in facilities like public moorings - how much of the river banks are at 45 degrees to encourage reed growth - another loss wild mooring .even public bin sheds are less . the seed has been sown finny
  18. I truly believe The Q has hit the nail on the head the fossil fuel combustion engine is on its way out -,the congestion tax in inner cities that's being widely adopted has got that eco mind set rolling to a greener future and i fear someday it will apply to our inland waterways personally I believe that the seed has been sown and it's all a case time to let things fall in place .in the grand scheme of things 20 to 30 years is not really a long time finny
  19. But can you rely on The EDP to get the story right finny
  20. Goodness me the good Doctor hopes to attract folk from Germany to Australia to the beloved National Park ( his words ) well that's all well and good - you are absolutely right ..the local economy will boom its a win win situation............. well perhaps not if you are coming to this lovely place steeped with a historical waterway culture by Boat and need a bridge to lift or lock to open - maybe easier to carry on down the coast ''tis just as nice may not be a good idea to shout out that load ............unless ???? The Finny
  21. Brilliant. I normally don't watch stuff like this but this time iam glad I did .a boat full of family and friends is what it's all about - good weather is a bonus and ten out of ten from me on the rescue well done finny
  22. But why not be straight...if the bridge was out of order then why not just say so right from when the phone call ahead was made it's very very naughty and sadly it reflects badly on Peels ports and what JM has posted the BA to a degree finny
