  1. And its a no brainer in my view . let the boat yards do the work - everyone pays their dues boat yards retain income plus built in security plus other benefits all out of sight ......it really does not have to be so harsh on the National Park that is really just the broads finny

  7. Living on a boat on the broads does not fit in with the National Park image with the current broads Authority yet around the country seems to do ok .........thats the biggest hurdle finny
  8. this is where i miss broads forums like Speakers corner - a great place of learning for those of us who did not know and wanted too also a great place where a debate could have a good thrashing - no over sensitivity no dummy throwing and funnily enough i never saw any moderation even though it was there . personally i think folk are being a tad over sensitive - if you dont want to get burnt fingers then dont poke the fire ......otherwise sit back and enjoy the ride - i know i do finny

    My Day

Thank you even though I am not beating myself up its only natural to go over the events and wonder did you do the right thing which I am sure I did and for me at the time it was to make sure he had a clear airway - he really was struggling to breath There is a god and he was dressed in green (paramedic ) took over at the very time I knew we had lost him .ten out of ten from me to emergency services and although it looks brutal you know it's right I also dont mind saying it was a shock even though it happens probably every day Thanks finny

    My Day

Today was a lesson in how valuable life is and what's important a good day usual in many ways until driving home then some poor old boy at a junction that I was passing had a heart attack his foot slipped the pedals and his car smashed into the front of my car - I knew something was wrong as his head was slumped. Instantly I knew something was not right and it wasn't . It was very apparent I had need to try relax and comfort this poor chap and help assist him in his breathing as he was struggling sadly he did not make it and I have since racked my brain.......was there anything more I could have done .......I don't think I could somebodys husband somebody's dad somebodys grandad somewhere somebody loved this man and I don't know his name today is a **** day people finny
  15. its a beautiful coast line and we do enjoy visiting but you are very right - its sad to see such loss finny
  16. Or perhaps the good voters just didn't see Great Yarmouth as national park material finny
  17. The good thing about threads like this is the knowledge you can pick up .i didn't know about how many types of osmosis can effect fibreglass I handnt even considered the problem from a water inside the hull perspective I also knew the benefits in drying a hull out from reading steve truss in the past but because I would not use the boat in the winter what I though would be a case of good timing could have been far more damaging great reading finny
  18. Its always going to be a strange topic osmosis on the the other forum there was some very interesting threads over the years usually started from someone buying their first boat - i also remember one chap on our marina pulled his boat out for maintenance that he was doing diy the hull was peppered with the stuff by chance he was held back on his plans so the boat stayed dry for much longer than planned most of the blisters disappeared now i know on a survey they take moisture readings so does anybody have any thoughts or is there any benefits in letting a hull dry out towards osmosis ?? finny
  19. It's a friendly forum Richard ...when you chose to read a post you kinda get involved in the conversation sometimes .......I don't do personal it's not how I roll and this is just a written conversation as far as iam concerned and nothing more finny
  20. Not for a broads boat .however I would pay for lift out and have a good look underside which you have to pay on top of a survey anyway . I did it once things that should have been picked up was not anything else was covered by the wording example - " could not fully examine the tank without removing " etc most folk think they have to have a survey to obtain insurance - not true , a boat yard report would be more true for me just my thoughts based on my own experiences finny
  21. It wouldn't worry me and if it did all I would do hard stand the boat over the next winter to dry out - they could even decrease in doing so finny
  22. It's nothing more than a personal choice I have a garage and I have a car .some people put their car away in the garage every night and some people like me can't be arsed - like I say nothing more than a personal choice finny
  23. That will be great ........the BA can chase you by river or by 4x4 on entry to the kingdom for its tolls finny
  24. Turbo's really work hard they should warmed up prior to setting off and then idling down for a while before shut down - Mr Falcon speaks wisely Finny
  25. I did my Hampton engine bay with quiet life 50 mm and it did a fairly decent job cut to size and spray glue on - i would guess around a 50% noise reduction and was happy with that .also what i did notice further down the line was that i had a better smelling engine bay all them service and maintenance jobs like oil and grease overspills could easily be wiped off the foil insulation - we had that honeycombe foam with a lead barrier before it stunk of oil and it wasnt that good but like all things you get what you pay finny
