  1. Great news Ray at the end of the day its what works for you Hamptons on a breezy day can be an hand full when mooring - making your boating experience more easier is a no brainer finny
  2. I can remember a good few years past watch a conversation on the hampton owners forum with regards bow thrusters and like Clive has said( and he also would be in the know )there are problems - hamptons only have a draft of 2ft 6 the general feeling was that they would not be effective , that said that was years past and i guess products coming into the market place also change.so it may pay to do some homework I can also remember having the conversation with Dave who runs Broadsedge in the pub about how tricky hamptons was with a bit of breeze - he said it didnt need a bow thruster .....i need to learn how to control the boat so the next day he took the boat out of the berth then on to the main river and then down the long dyke down to the service bay - BACKWARDS .........oh and he smoked then so he rolled a fag in the process i didnt by a bow thruster but i did buy the drinks all that night in the pub finny
  3. Nice to see the four legged security in place for the booze table finny
  4. Looks like you are in for decent weather weekend - enjoy people finny
  5. The implications longterm on the leasure industry alone are huge and putting boating to one side I can see a massive impact also not in a good way towards the industry as a whole .going to need a big motor and plenty of batteries to pull a caravan Finny
  6. sounds to me she is more than just a boat - personal family memories attached to a boat over time are special .thanks for sharing your restoration with us finny
  7. I have to laugh sometimes ..........we have a fleet of new trucks ( euro cat 6 ) use three times more adblue than the older version same fuel economy - more or less but the interesting part is when they choke up they throw themselves into limp mode untill you re-gen them - which involves parking up for just over an hour switch on the re-gen mode the sit there with the engine revving its nuts off whilst spitting adblue and diesel into the box of tricks attached to the exhaust system generating enough heat to burn off the soot then chuck it out there anyway ............oh really how is that saving the planet perhaps we are being conned again me thinks finny
  8. It' down to personal needs .many like Hamptons simply because they offer good accommodation with good access for walking around on deck which isn't something the more modern boats seem to lack Finny
  9. With regard water in the bilge ........I would be very worried with my Hampton if there was no water in the bilge there should be slight drip from the stern gland if not expect your shaft to ware quicker than normal ........another thing I would check is the rudder stock gland they are not much higher than the waterline and also new packing ...........good idea to put on a service list finny

    Bye Bye

These types of threads are always going to be on a road to nowhere or just lite the blue touch paper and watch it go . If I should ever feel that aggrieved to the point where I need to go - then I will just simply go .........with no Drama does it really have to be so complicated?? finny
  11. Before you go and buy one of these Dear Chap - may i suggest a car with a tow bar first finny
  12. I enjoy a car journey - if someone else is driving I enjoy a chug down the river - if someone else is at the helm quite like flying - definitely if someone else is at the sticks tho some would say " chilled out " some would say " Lazy boy " personally i don't mind either
  13. Thats what i did Ray - that said i ended up getting them to re wire and re battery the system for a warm air system - which they fitted and a new 12 volt fridge whilst it was there - good job good price - no drama fiiny
  14. if you are north based Ray nip into Boulters at Horning let them have a look at your current charging set up finny
  15. On our Hampton Ray we had one dedicated cranking battery 90amp and two 120 amp leisure batteries and never had any problem firing up the warm air system. personally i think even with all that running time you could be a tad light on the battery front any warm air system wacks the batteries from a cold start which is why the yards tell them to run the engine finny
  16. Not really one for drinking on the boat but I don't mind a few in the pub finny

  22. It's possible that it's a forum first Gracie holiday tale come photo gallery come wuthering heights and then blow me ( not literally) the man turns it into a quiz no end of talent - I guess this is what becomes from sliding down his pole all day finny
  23. You have to admire marketing its like buying a stick of tradition sea side rock lettered with the words " national park " in the middle open it up - A couple of sucks and licks and it's gone - yet it's still only a stick of rock finny
  24. Don't you just sometimes dislike technology.........let me re-address the start of my last post as the forum will not permit an edit " blimey I never thought a mere mortal would ever speak to the Gods " off now in need of much prediction text restoration finny
