  3. Well Griffs up that way at the moment with a crew of communications experts, I reckon if the flappy tries it on with Griff - they will be communicated with in no uncertain terms.
  4. even the swans up there use their wings as sails.
  5. was it sitting next to the pink elephant in a tutu?
  6. No, but they do make carrot cake.
  7. I can verify this as I received one of these emails, fortunately the password it gave was from back in 2012, and that has since been changed multiple times. I also ran a malware scan just to be sure, plus though I use a laptop I use and external monitor so my webcams show nothing, so knew that they were making a phishing attack. it seems I got off lightly as I was only asked for $1000 in bitcoin. So yes everyone do be aware there are scams like this out there.
  8. its the chinese habit of stroking the beard, it pulls the hair downwards and out of the chin.
  9. sadly I dont even have enough hair to do that, though I could plait my beard if i allowed it to grow long.

    Thanks Tbmc

I doubt it, and I dont suppose you will either for re-quoting it
  11. Norfolk Broads - the school for learning to handle a boat, always has been, always will be. I have only hired twice and helmed a boat 4 times now, I like to think I have learned a lot in those times, I learned the most from Griff the one time I was allowed to helm Broad Ambition, some of the best advice I have ever had, and that was if you are headed into a sticky situation, dont just slow down, or you lose all manouverability. have I hit anything - not yet, and I hope not in future too.
  12. Always interested in seeing models of boats my thread is up to page 74 now, over 2 years of work on two models

    Hi

Its mainly so we can get to know you a bit better before you try and sell to us, and you can get an idea of your market audience. to the forum.
  14. Thats actually a very good question, I dont know if we have a policy on that , but I do know that we have members on facebook that have been removed from here, and the opposite may also be true. I would think if they posted acceptably on facebook, but not here, that they would only be removed from the particular media where they have transgressed, but it is a question that we (moderators) will need to put to the chairman, as we might be called upon to justify member removal should a complaint be made to facebook.
  15. Vaughan, Facebook and the forum are separate entities, sharing a common name, run by the same moderators and staff, and soon facebook will be run under the same TOS as we use here. they are just different forms of the same thing. if you want content to appear over on facebook, then you have to post it there separately, no content will be automatically shared between the two. Much like you dont do facebook, some facebook users dont do forums. we will advertise the presence of the forum to facebook members, to try and encourage them here to post, but essentially the two stand separately.
  16. if its cable operated, check the condition of the cable at the pulleys, to adjust the play there should be a turnbuckle somewhere to take up any slack.
  17. but Timbo, did you preserve the original handrails Said he, (knowing the answer is no - they mostly came off in pieces, so I wouldnt have wanted to rely on them in an emergency).
  18. No, its fine Charlie, I have primer for the hull in spray cans.
  19. look at that nearly a month has gone by, and I have been too busy working on Royal Tudor to work on the model, and until the beccles wooden boat show I will still be busy, but not too busy to use some of that paint Charlie gave me, the aluminium paint has been applied to the inside of the hull. This is exactly the same paint as Charlie uses on Broad Ambition, because Charlie sorted me out some and passed it to me at the spring meet. Thanks Charlie, there was just enough for a good thick coat to the inside of the model.
  20. sorry there are no photos, but we were a tad busy.
