  1. we did fancy dress at work today, I 3d printed some bolts and stuck them to plasters, these then held them on to my neck.
  2. Report it to the gas company that you fell down one of their holes after somebody moved one of their barriers, that is a reportable to the HSE accident, they will then have to put measures in place to prevent it happening again. (can anyone tell I had to sit through a whole day of health and safety yesterday)
  3. I can say - yes that is the cause, we are moving files around in preparation for other work, so the images may be disrupted for a few days (similar to last time) Please bear with us.
  4. I think that should maybe be rephrased to was that a barn?
  5. We are currently performing some maintenance tasks to the forum, Please be aware that some strange behaviour may occur. Hopefully this will not take too long to sort itself out, but please be aware and dont panic, we have not been hacked or attacked.
  6. the area that looks like the EDF logo.
  7. But then if we knew those other places as well as we do the Broads, I wonder if we would say the same about those places, How many of the non broads experts would know the film chopped and changed all over the place. I was once involved with some filming with a trainee BBC producer, he told me that they thought they were doing well if they got 1 minutes useable footage per hour of filming
  8. Well today we did a little work on the lathe, what was needed was a water scoop, this had to just pump enough water to simulate the exhaust, so where to start, I knew if I built a scoop it would pump too much water, so how big a hole is needed - the honest answer is I dont know, so lets start with a basic nozzle, a skin fitting for the bottom of the boat, add a 3mm hole the best part of the way through, leave a larger end and turn the rest down to 8mm for the silicon pipe. then its just a simple 0.8mm hole through the end, a scoop - well how about just filing a channel up to the hole. ok scoop done, a similar fitting for the transom, except this will have the 3mm hole right through, this should reduce the flow to an acceptable amount, if there is not enough flow, I have drills in 0.1mm steps right the way up to 3mm, so this one will be trial and error until I get it right.
  9. so really where he can go is more restricted by bridges and whether his beam exceeds 12' 6"
  10. we have 2 wifi repeaters for EE as all the work phones are on EE and at work we get zero signal on EE.
  11. yes same as the other one - an electrical plug.
  12. so after taking a couple of evenings off - as I wasnt sure I had enough time of an evening, I got the epoxying done, prop shaft, support and rudder all fixed in place., then the skeg was fitted and bolted in place while everything was setting, all set now and I am happy with the alignment. since I got some additional bolts, I made a better selection of round head allen bolts to hold this on, these will have a smoother profile than the current allen socket bolts.
  13. we often get students or dominoes pizza employees parking in our road. the worst are the students, who all (to their credit) park really close - but they all have small cars, so along comes me to find no volvo sized spaces, and a small car length between every car. we are the closest spot to park to town where you dont need to buy a parking ticket, thus saturdays we get all and sundry parking. to overcome this when I turn up with a car full of shopping I just double park while unloading - if someone I have blocked in turns up and wants to leave, - well I will just be 5 minutes then I can move my car - would you like to help me carry my shopping to my house?. Like some others here the road only goes across the end of the row of houses so you cannot park outside your own house, thus its a free for all, and a bit further away is a residents car park.
  14. squeeze a smart car either side and block her doors she will soon get the hint.
  15. The question is - will it be dismissed by the broker before he puts it to the vendor, as he only gets a percentage for his commission (unless he has managed to get a solid figure for his cut).
  16. its a good job its a boy - just think of all those broads and dykes a girl could have been named after - then thinking about it - Cockshoot might not be so good for a boy.
  17. my only issue with Lidl is I go in there with the intent to buy some food, and come out with a table saw (or insert tool of choice / offer of the week here). if I could stick to just buying the food, my shopping bill would be far cheaper than other supermarkets - but...........................
  18. party - did someone mention a party - welcome from me too.
  19. its the yellow stuff you dont eat
  20. Tim - I once made a Plainer sled, it was just two runners on a sheet of ply - it worked well when the snow was deep enough.
  21. Last night, another nearly whole hour lost to the vagaries of the Dartford Crossing, an accident on the other side, so we just stop, at junction 30. Not a lot of work done, but at least I got a little bit sone, the wood block for inside the hull was drilled and marked for the ribs, and the grooves in the bottom for these was chiselled out. now all that is needed is for the hull to be cleaned up to remove any glue in the wrong place and this can be fitted in place.
  22. heres to the next 43 years
  23. dont forget, a narrower boat will get through easier than a wider one due to the shape of the arch. so an 8 foot wide boat may get through easier anyway
