  1. After 8 weeks I think I would be finding another surveyor! I would expect it within a few days!
  2. We hired her back in 2007 on her 2nd week out on hire from new. Time goes so quickly!
  3. Gale is very popular which im told gets booked up well in advance. There is also this site on the Northern side: https://www.buresideholidaypark.co.uk/
  4. Thats not a bodge, its known as an east anglian solution!
  5. Hi Tom, Why are electric vehicles necessary? As I understand it they are expensive to buy and expensive to put right if they go wrong with battery packs running into the several thousands. I can only assume budgets are strained with the amount the Toll has risen in the last 10 years so how can purchases like this be justified? Surely a standard vehicle would be more cost effective?
  6. Its people making everything so complicated that are adding to the cost of every little job that needs doing. In the private sector if a tree needs pruning is a feasibility study commissioned? Probably not as it wont be the public paying for it. Just check with the landowner for access permission then get on with it!
  7. Nasty bile on the Internet. Unless Im missing something I will assume that comment concerns what might get posted on the forums about the Broads Authority. Ive never seen anything nasty but I have seen plenty of criticism that is fair and well deserved.
  8. “Commit to purchasing all-electric vehicles except where towing capacity or 4-wheel drive demands make this impractical;” “Install additional car charging points at Authority sites” I would sooner see a commitment to reducing tolls back to a sensible level rather than shelling out on technology that is still very expensive and not necessary to operate the authority efficiently. “Review procurement practices to give additional focus to environmental criteria while still achieving good value for money.” This can be achieved very easily by not spending money on items that are not needed or not suitable. The BA excel at producing report after report after report that just contain clever words!
  9. We pulled in there a few years back with a private boat looking for an overnight mooring and was told to get out before we had even landed. Very friendly indeed! On the other hand Barnes have always been happy to accommodate us but we always rung ahead.
  10. You also need to consider if you can fit a tank of a reasonable size. Fitting in a small tank that ends up needing pumping out every couple of days will become very costly and a bit of a pain.
  11. I don't want to seem unfair to Great Yarmouth as it has a certain attraction but Id have been well miffed they missed out Grimsby & Cleethorpes on the way down.
  12. Dont forget the shop at Oulton Broad...... is closed!
  13. At a track day I could understand it but driving home from work in a 30mph speed limit? His trip home was all of 3 miles, I bet the coolant wasn’t even warm!
  14. I had a serious argument over advice like this with a neighbour. Every time he came home he was idling his ridiculously loud mid life crisis car for 2 or 3 minutes to apparently save his turbo. Amongst some other stuff I told him to stop driving like an tw*t and he wouldn’t need to do it. I think he reported my temper tantrum to the police but they must have got through to him as he stopped doing it. Switching the engine off at high revs will starve the Turbo of oil, switch it off at idle and all will be fine. Oops this thread was about marine turbos.

While the guy earning 188k gross (2017) clearly needs it. I suspect that will have risen being 2 years later.

It will NEVER sit well with me when most of the people doing the actual dangerous work are doing it for little to nothing. Volunteer Crews (who do a sterling job) risk their lives for free while the Chief Exec takes home his luxury salary with all his allowances. Overpaid much or what.....I cant and wont accept its a necessity.
  17. Judging by the prices those days must have been a very long time ago. £1 for overnight moorings at Great Yarmouth and 75p for Oulton Broad. How things change and not for the better
  18. There could be stipulations on selling the boat from your mooring if in a private boatyard or marina. Some do some don't it might be worth finding out.
  19. I have long thought the same thing. I fish but not as regularly as I used to. These days I think more about fish welfare and no longer use trebles or dead baits which In my opinion must lead to many injured or dead pike in wrong hands. I now prefer lures being in direct contact with the the tackle at all times ensures no gear is swallowed. I haven't seen any pike myself for a few years but the last year I fished for them much of those I caught showed evidence of damage. In some areas they are absolutely hammered. A moratorium would certainly be welcomed by me.
  20. When the BA roll out their new prop tax this ones going to cost a bit!
  21. For nothing but a Goose sh1t covered transom I would be quite happy mud weighting and putting the £10 back in my pocket where it belongs! Nobody would have minded when it was 4 or 5 quid a night for some of these isolated mooring places but given a few more years and some just might be up at £15 a night or more. I don't mind paying when there are facilities available. It must really put some folk off.
  22. £10 a night and there is nothing there or anything else accessible. What a Rip Off!!
  23. At the time I had my suspicions it might have had something to do with whoever is trying to sell the detection technology to the Airports! Its worrying that thousands of people’s travel plans can be severely disrupted by a drone, Id have been fuming had it affected mine.
  24. When you consider the sheer disruption miss use of drones have been responsible for (Gatwick) it is high time things changed to restrict their use but to suggest somebody might be a peeping tom for flying one is well out of order IMO!
