  1. The obvious one is the Swan Inn in Horning, I've never stayed there myself ( my motorboat you can see out of the window). But those I have known stay there, have not complained about the accomodation.
  2. Potter Heigham bridge has a clearance nominally, According to the BA, of 6ft 6 inches. You therefore would need to go through at low tide, If there is high pressure weather. If there is a low going over the water level will be higher and you won't get through even at low tide. Similarly, I note, that today there are lots of large cruisers at Coltishall, we've had High pressure for several days, but they will need to get back through Wroxham - Hoveton Bridge (7ft 3 inches) before the weekend low pressure arrives or they could have problems..

    Sailing Zoe

Hopefully, I'll see her, as I count the boats round the bouy on Hickling broad this year. Must remember to charge up tablet and see if I can link to Hickiing sailing clubs WiFi, and put comments as to what happening in the race.. I forgot it and left it behind last year....

    Sailing Zoe

There is a Zoe listed in the 2003 and 2015 races under hire cruisers( and probably others but I haven't looked), unfortunately they don't give the true sail number or BA reg number so thats not 100% certain but it is likely.

    Fishing.

if its a hire boat fishing, I find it's often going along so fast the lure is bouncing along the surface....
  9. Looking at the current state of play with the Coltishall road I would not be surprised to see them join on that one as well, all the kerbstones are in place. That's been down to a single lane most days recently. One thing I one thing I have noticed on the Colt road is they appear to have built in laybys on the slip roads , for the police?
  10. The radio reports this morning, that the Salhouse road will be closed from today for the completion of the roundabout, which by my reckoning means they are running about 3 months late...
  11. I don't think we have a guardship up there I think it's a little off course...
  12. So your Dads To Blame for the Potty...

    Fishing.

Not if you don't have sufficient power on they won't,and many a pilot has made that mistake!!! Everything I measure, has on it's certificate a figure showing it's degree of uncertainty
  14. But is it or should it be a possessive apostrophy belonging to the Broads? I think It should, Broad's...
  15. The Ferry doesn't Meet any of his requirements. Trying to Push a Wheel chair down the acess road would be a disaster / road humps and pot holes. I'd never call the Ferry, Quiet and on occations it's deafening even out on the water. I'd go for the New Inn Especially if he can book ahead for a mooring there. The Swan Second Choice,
  16. Personally I'd add underneath the text, "It's better than that!!" But I share the sentiment and if I could be there there would be a badge
  17. Welcome and enjoy the site it will be useful!!!
  18. Welcome to the site there is plenty of helpful people here. If your Holiday includes the first week in August and you intend going through Horning, keep an eye out for the notice I'll post a couple of weeks before about the chaos we cause with Horning regatta, IT hopefully would help you through...
  19. Is it a follow on from Dr Who?
  20. You should also never press "option 1, 2 etc " from a unknown caller as this too can initiate huge phone bills..
  21. Two Stroke oil of today is specially formulated to produce as little smoke as possible, a smokey 2stoke bike is old Knacker and has had a beating for most of it's life probably contributing more to the smoke trail. Using ex sump oil is probably not a good idea, you've removed it because it's been collecting impurities, it may have metal fragments (tiny) and be acidic. Incidentaly I add 1 in 200 parts 2SO to diesel as it reduces smoke from old diesels it's quite common in in Old Land Rovers to do this. It was started to replace the lubrication lost when fuels went over to low sulpher fuel which has less lubrication, the side effect of reduced smoke , and slightly less engine noise was a welcome addition. Note, it takes a couple of tank fulls to go through before the effect become apparent
  22. That would depend on if there was a club curry night the night before.....
  23. In the little country villages of Wiltshire that still applied in the 1960s In the outer Hebrides it still applied in the 1980's except for the curry you did get something undescribable with the appelation "curry", in the junior ranks Mess.
  24. Where does that fit on the boat?
  25. About 1978, A Royal Air Force Sailing Association dinghy course at Horning SC, within 6 months I had a Laser dinghy.... a variety of dinghies have followed since. Rescue boat duties followed at least twice a year ever since. Sometime between then and 1983 I did go out on a day boat a few times. About 2001 bought my own motor boat
