  1. I can’t quite do a bathtub as I’ve used to the view from sedan cruisers, but centre cockpit with sliding roof for getting under bridges makes some sense to me!
  2. People who drag the end of the drinking water hose through the gravel at moorings, it’s drinking water you plum, keep it clean! people who don’t coil the hose back up after using it. people who cruise along at 3mph in a 5 or 6mph zone, who then speed up or weave about if you try to pass them...
  3. Well we’re looking a week earlier than we did this year, mainly because our shortlist of boats are all available then. I seem to recall if you’re an NBD customer you don’t pay for the pilot too at Wroxham or am I imagining that?
  4. Aside from one previous hire (Brinks Sonata), I spectacularly failed to get under Ludham Bridge on my last couple of visits due to a combination of too tall a boat, and always going when it's spring tides, and the tide times are all wrong, meaning 'safe passage' is usually either stupid o'clock in the morning, or late at night... There's a lot of places beyond Wroxham Bridge I'd like to get to as well. Next Year I'm looking to change this, so initially looked at one of the Broom Cadets, they have a folding roof/canopy arrangement which would solve the problem, however, they are down in Brundall, which means a long slog up to the Ant, and they don't allow Doggo's. After being unsure of whether to bring our dog along this year, he was immaculate and we'd like to take him again, it gives you a good excuse to go for a nice walk too. Had a bit more of a dig about, and I've found 'Fair Ambassador' I like the layout with a huge (comparitively) heads/bathroom, and a very good size kitchen/galley. Also, it's got a full sized bed (I'm 6'4 this is a major plus). I've had a look at all the 360 views on NBD's website and it looks great. Has anyone got any personal experience of it? Only negative I can see is no Bow Thrusters, and I've become lazy now and I'm used to them... thanks!
  5. Unless we’re moored up and the doors are closed mine is always tied up on the boat, I use a long lead rope for a horse as it’s nice and thick, soft and he can’t tie himself up in it, because it has no loop it’s easy to tie onto things too.
  6. Sounds like another great trip, I was only up there this time last week and am missing it so much. It was the first time my good lady has been on the Broads and I wasn’t sure what she’d make of it, but she fell in love between Wroxham and Salhouse, she’d checked off everything on her ‘must see’ bird list within the first 24 hours...
  7. I noticed when I was up there last week Brinks are currently building at least two new boats, both look pretty similar to their latest addition ‘Serenade’ which is probably no bad thing
  8. As a kid I grew up riding my BMX round the old abandoned brick yard/clay pit behind our house, well safe!
  9. Welcome, I hope you’ll find this as great and useful a resource as I do.
  10. Ah yes, that would've been before they made the 'carrier' exhibit, a full size mock up of the ark royal deck and underbelly
  11. I think I've been on that one too actually, what a truly fantastic museum that is as well!
  12. Couldn't agree more about the Bridge Inn, definitely on our must revisit list! Staff are incredibly friendly, food is great and portions tres grande!
  13. My two experiences of this beautiful bird have been initially of growing up in North Devon and hearing her go supersonic over the Atlantic, and secondly being stood on the platform at Clapham Junction waiting for my train to/from uni and seeing her fly over, been on the one at Duxford and the one at Brooklands, very small but so classy!
  14. Great diary, puts mine to shame! I don't know about you guys but I found it very quiet this year out there, mostly just fishermen
  15. Now that's a proper holiday diary, I have a lot to live up to!
  16. Good to see he's wearing his life jacket though! clearly knew about the webcam as he was waving like mad as they went past
  17. Yep, the gingerbread man from the Shrek films was up at Wroxham this morning
  18. Basically tidal lock, where the sea level over powers the natural tide so for the last week we didn't really experience any tides on the northern rivers, not sure how it affected the Southern system
  19. Having just come back, the tides were ridiculously high, St Benets over the quay head 3 hours before high tide 2 days ago, that said you 'should' be fine in a couple of days, was a case of unexpectedly high tides along the east coast combined with spring tide, and the tail end of a hurricane, for want of a better turn of phrase, it was 'the perfect storm'
  20. Luckily we'd covered quite a bit of ground early on, as today was supposed to be adventure day, not sure if it will be now, currently lashing it down again in Thurne
  21. We were on Thurne Dyke, so probably a bit more comfortable than Oulton, glad I moved the boat slightly to tie up on the rings though as one of our Rhonda anchors had come out this morning! Our dog was pretty good, he doesn't like strong wind but only came up to join us around 6am ish...
  22. Well, gusts of around 35mph I think and a lot of heavy rain last night made for an interesting experience... Survived intact though, just awaiting the wind to calm down and the rain to stop before we continue on our way...
