  1. If you have WhatsApp on your iPad you can WhatsApp yourself and auto save to phone photo library , alternatively you can blue tooth them over
  2. You could email your photos to yourself and load them from your smartphone ? We all enjoy your tales/photos immensely
  3. The Broads bug claims another , why am I not surprised
  4. It would be lovely if someone with the know how could set up an e-calendar and e-cards
  5. We decided due to the river levels etc not to venture out last weekend after all
  6. There is nothing stopping you signing up for a paid course with the NYA , I look forward to hearing of your experiences with them .
  7. May I once again pass my condolences on to the friends and family of a young man who sadly lost his life earlier this month whilst holidaying with friends on the Broads . No amount of speculation or what ifs will bring him back or ease the pain felt by those who knew him . RIP young man
  8. Alpha craft 32 , a nice go anywhere boat , especially with the river levels as they have been of late. Remember when you turn the wheel you have almost 30ft behind you which will sweep quite a large arc. If you have one bring an oil filled radiator with you to keep the chill off overnight when on shore power (card available from most boatyards or can order from Yare house by post) overnight will cost about £2 on low continuous heat don’t use radiator (or fan heater) on inverter ever though , knackers the batteries !!! if not on shore power your warm air vented heating is efficient but can be noisy and shouldn’t be run overnight
  9. As you’re afloat for two weeks , I would consider staying your first evening at Richardson’s , and head off the next morning as opposed to joining the many seeking moorings late afternoon . As total “virgins” a recommendation would be to practice stern and side on mooring in the basin in the morning a couple of times to get used to your boats and your own capabilities , remember slow and steady and if you feel you’ve got the angle wrong then go around and start again . remember to print off your forum Logo and hope to see you afloat , what boat are you on?
  10. Seems the fishing season is still in full flow !!!!!!!!
  11. If a customer has the mind set not to wish to return , it is their choice , whether they blame close calls etc etc or not the simple thing is the Broads wasn’t for them . There are thousands that return year after year and they have discovered the magic that some of us find here, and will continue to do so
  12. M&S gourmet fish pie @£8 which is enough for two is excellent and well filled with meaty chunks of fish and king prawns
  13. couldn't agree with Vanessan more , time of year is important as passage times through Yarmouth may be restricting for your week afloat , there are many threads on here and elsewhere concerning Yarmouth and passage through . Many of your queries could well be dependant on boat airdraft etc and facilities you require but keep asking we are a friendly lot on here
  14. When I originally posted the link to the video on another thread I did so forgetting the TOS of this site and it was rightfully modded , and as I agreed to the TOS when joining the NBN I had no problems at all with it . I then posted another comment alluding to the existence of such a video on YouTube but didn’t post a direct link thereby keeping within the sites TOC and maintaining the integrity of this forum. Whilst some may feel the TOC too restricting , we all agreed when joining to abide by them and can have no complaints when we are modded when we breach them , our mods do a hard and thankless task and for that I thank them
  15. The thirty odd hire boats we hired didn’t but I stand to be corrected
  16. Just remember the golden rule , when mooring and leaving a mooring , go slowly , no one is perfect and nudges happen but if going slow then the chance of damage or getting being caused is greatly reduced . a good hint is to put a bit of masking tape on the top of helm wheel when the steering is set straight ahead easily discoverable when travelling along the river, that way when leaving a mooring you will know where the rudder is pointing ergo preventing you side swiping your neighbour when leaving a stern on mooring
  17. So that members are aware , I forwarded a copy of this video yesterday 20 mins after it was posted online to Richardson’s .
  18. An incident of a boat “hit and run” posted today on YouTube , highlights some people’s attitudes to others property . No link posted so as not to breech NBN TOC
  19. Sorry to hear this Griff , yes accidents happen , especially when weather conditions are as they have been this last few days , but that is no excuse for the helm of the offending craft to not stop and exchange full details though sadly it is becoming more commonplace .
  20. Now, an NBN face mask , that would be great !!!!!
  21. Brings back the old discussion of dredging the upper Yare so the water can flow freely out to sea . Since the powers that be have totally refused to listen to opinion that the upper Yare dredging would alleviate the silting up of the lower system perhaps reducing water pollution by doing this will stir then into action , they may not be bothered too much about keeping navigation clear from silt build up but now it could be a threat to wild life and its habitat I wouldn’t be surprised if action is taken sooner rather than later
  22. A Herbert woods boat told me that they had removed them and put them online
  23. during our hiring years we found huge differences in “the hand over” ranging from in depth and impressive (Russell Craft) to here’s the keys ((Kingfisher) ,and everywhere in between. Im an avid reader and actually made a point of reading the captains manual back to back our first evening aboard again the information contained within varied greatly . currently due to covid the yards (as I am led to believe but stand to be corrected) have removed these manuals and replaced with an online version . the information is there for the hirers , sadly not so the inclination to absorb it
