  1. very , very tempting !!!!! a goldmine in the waiting have registered for the auction pack , always said I’d never go back into the pub trade but The Locks is one that could sorely tempt me , plus my youngest is at a crossroads and can’t decide what direction to take so perhaps a overseeing roll could tempt me back .
  2. We have bought from Jeckyls Oulton Broad before when there were shortages
  3. You can get a take away delivered to many of the staithes , have had deliveries to Ranworth , Neatishead, Horning , Gayes, Stalham , and Sutton . There are also take aways available to walk to in Wroxham , Stalham , Neatishead (The old saddlery) , Horning , Ranworth (pub pizza shed) sure I’ve missed a few , others will no doubt inform , when I’m aboard next I will try and remember to post the numbers
  4. Just had a look , lovely and excellent prices , will be measuring up Cerise Lady for three new arms/blades next week
  5. As long as you are prepared for the weather , warm clothing etc if cold , hot water bottles to take the chill off the bed etc The Broads are a wonderful place all year round , the landscape and wildlife in the winter months I find stunning , with less movement on the rivers it becomes a haven of peace and tranquility
  6. And in your case you are totally correct not to agree , my full posting alluded to new members who were concerned about making the crossing and in their case I feel it is a valid opinion , enjoy their first boating holiday afloat , gain the experience (and confidence) and stay North or South till they have . Its no coincidence that this year with the much higher percentage of first time hirers holidaying on The Broads that we have seen a recent surge in mishaps . The passage through Gt Yarmouth and Braydon is safe for a compétent helm those with no experience find it daunting and in many cases confusing .
  7. Scrap yards will sell complete units inc motor very cheaply , about £25 should do it
  8. Looking at the way it’s attached to the sweeping arm , any blade of equivalent length could be attached in the same way , alternatively just buy the rubber (or silicon) blade and replace that . if it was me however I would visit a scrap yard and buy replacement arm and blade which would be attached in the more traditional manner , if the angle is off you can bent the arm over a piece of wood to shape
  9. The only place you are likely to run aground is on Braydon or its approaches , on all the shallow areas where there is a risk of grounding there are marker posts clearly marking this , if the hirers or more correctly the helm has read the information provided by the hire company and the BA as he she confirms as such by the signing of the hand over paperwork then there is no need for the expense of retro fitting depth gauges .
  10. If these occurrences keep happening , it is only a short step for hire yards to ban Braydon crossings . How difficult is it for the hirer to understand the two very simple instructions that are always given verbally and in writing , ie only cross in the period one hour either side of slack low water and keep in the navigation channel between the marker posts , even my three year old grandson knows to watch for the yellow post for the turn on Barton Broad to tell me “you can turn now Grandad”. Perhaps with the opening of WRC on the South , those wishing to cruise these waters would be best advised to hire from a Southern Yard ? Yes I know that thousands of hire boats cross Braydon every year safely and these occurrences are not that common , but holiday makers concern about the crossing is an often opening thread for new members , a holiday should be relaxing remove the stress and spend your week either South or North , there is plenty to fill a week either side .
  11. Is a compilation of these two I think
  12. Waters Edge is for sale though , and the Sutton Staithe hôtel lease is also available
  13. Checked on the Morning Advertiser site (which I’m registered with) and it’s not listed amongst licensed properties that are up for sale either freehold or leasehold
  14. As will the butchers Tavern Tasty of north walsham
  15. I wonder if they still get schoolchildren to make crystal sets in physics at school ,
  16. Don’t forget a lighter or matches for the gas hob (many of the self lighters don’t work). Nice large wine glasses are a bonus , camera to take and post pics on here , nitrate free washing up liquid (Ecouver) If you are taking a dog then a dog jacket is a must mid your boat has shore power then a small ceramic fan heater helps to clear the condensation in the mornings , do not use on inverter though
  17. Sounds like a self - description Grendel
  18. She looked stunning last week , someone is going to be a very lucky new owner . Hope to see you both again soon
  19. Looks wonderful , but I would be very suprised if it reached anything like the asking price
  20. The former Tropic Horizon II , a wonderful boat and classic Broads design, may you have many enjoyable years afloat on her .
