  1. As mentioned elsewhere , the BA has issued a press release (EDP) stating that Stalham Staithe is now a BA mooring , hopefully this means the much awaited action on the resident boats can be taken .
  2. Many years ago we were on Fair Diplomat and had moored up on Horning Staithe , a hire boat passed us at 21:00 seeking a mooring first downstream then upstream , it was obviously a hen party boat , Katie wasn’t overly amused when I waved them over and tied them up alongside . They were in fact a very nice bunch and after a couple of drinks in the Swan (and they bought one for us too) they reboarded and were soon asleep , only waking when they smelt our bacon in the morning
  3. Indeed it was added to some signs , but many never read the small print and I don’t think it’s on all signs , Stokesby has a small sticker that has also been added to the top of the sign
  4. The trouble is the signage , it simply states “please double moor at busy times” no mention of with boat owners consent even if they do double moor , there is no legislation that states you have to permit them to use your boat as a land bridge
  5. The Late Great Stanley Unwin a unique talent of stage and screen
  6. Potential storage unit moored up near Sutton Broad , May need shoring up .
  7. Report , of sorts, on the Hemsby Lifeboats Facebook page , most importantly stating no reported injuries
  8. If you check out his YouTube channel he has recently posted a couple of Trixie videos
  9. Agreed , to be serious , if you upload a photo I’m sure your mystery will be answered correctly
  10. CE i believe in Yorkshire speak is “chuffing ekk!!”
  11. Upriver from Salhouse is indeed correct
  12. Griff , may I ask who was awarded “best in show” please
  13. One would hope that , just as in a car when cyclists are disregarding the rules of the road, the helm of a motorised vessel would be vigilant when in the proximity of paddle boarders, as he or she should be at all times when underway , we all hope that an accident doesn’t occur between a boat and a paddle boarder but these things can and do happen , sadly . What we don’t need is more and more legislation which will only cost a fortune to implement and will most likely be ignored . As a Cambridge resident you only have to see the behaviour of a majority of the cyclists who travel at night without lights , ignore traffic signals , zebra crossings and one way streets , to see how unworkable legislation can be .
  14. TBH If I didn’t recognise that spot I would deserve to be banned from the rivers
  15. I may be in the minority here , but , The Broads are there for the enjoyment of us all , fishermen and women along the banks, those that cycle along the bridleways alongside the rivers , walkers on the footpaths , sailors in their flappy things , motor boaters hirers and privateers alike , canoeists and kayakers , rowers and yes paddle boarders. The fact that some don’t approve of their chosen sport and leisure activity doesn’t reduce their right to also enjoy the Broads as we do
  16. Indeed it does , and there is a yellow shore power lead in the photo . Top of the picture is the much favoured “taxi rank”
  17. Congratulations and may you both have a wonderful honeymoon , if you’re on the Northern side may well see you next weekend Simon and Kate
  18. It’s Ranworth in the side staithe
  19. Fantastic stuff , used by the rangers in the U.S. Everglades , Katie and I swear by it , trouble is we often forget to use it !!!!!
