  1. Still no official notification from the auctioneers , simply an email stating currently withdrawn from auction. The auction guide price was £375,000 - £395,000 plus stock at valuation , the agreed price of £405,000 in the current climate seems a good result for the vendors but not higher than myself for one was considering a realistic investment . I’m sure I wasn’t the only interested party actively awaiting the auction and registered for online bidding
  2. The trouble with some ,but not all, community buy outs, is they can have too many bosses which results in a lack of sense of direction due to conflicting opinions. if it is indeed true that a community buy out has been agreed (still awaiting official notification) then I hope they install an experienced manager and allow them the freedom to develop what could be a very successful venture retaining the uniqueness of The Locks. If the buy out decides to head down the gastropub route with just a handful of wealthy investors under the guise of “a community” as has happened to a few in my area then the chance to maintain and develop thus marvellous asset will be lost Community buy outs are not always what they seen
  3. Have not received anything official from the auctioneers that it has been withdrawn , yet!
  4. We have an electric loo , the bonus is it also has a macerator so less chance of blocking, not that we put anything other than two ply and “doings” down it
  5. I’m a great believer in “if it isn’t broken don’t try and fix it” , at least 90% of the hire boats use gas for cooking and probably a higher percentage of privateers do and it works just fine .
  6. Sorry to hear you had problems with the boat , but hope it hasn’t put you off the beautiful Norfolk (and Suffolk) Broads and you will return again soon .
  7. They are also advertising the selling of quite a few lodges in a long lease
  8. Must admit I’m surprised as I thought they were hiring well from WRC , also NBD basin is normally packed with the amount of craft they have there normally let alone the extra boats .
  9. Ah , but the OP stated motorboat for hire as opposed to flappy or oar propelled . I guess one of Marthams would now be the winner , unless you count one of Hunters offerings with the electric outboard now supplied on some
  10. I know last year the hose was left attached at Horning also
  11. Dredge the upper reaches , increase tidal flow , result , cleaner water !!
  12. If our honourable NBN member and representative of the BA reads this thread may I ask if he would be able to post a list of those moorings where water is available all year round please?
  13. Would also love to hear of MM’s new boats chosen name , or should there be a forum competition , the winner to attend the renaming and provide liquid sustenance of course
  14. Love my old Mercedes diesel inboards , the offset in carbon footprint by converting them would be impossible to achieve in my lifetime or my children’s . The “greenest” way forward for the planet is to stop becoming a throw away society , keep using what we have and stop replacing everything . My boats engines are 42 years old they still function perfectly , I have no need to replace them with an electric power source powered by batteries whose manufacture has raped the planet for the materials and have a usable life far less than the remaining life than my current engines .
  15. But all the examples you have listed were replaced by cheaper foreign versions , yes in many ways inferior but the products themselves are still available . The traditional pub is an institution and there are many such as myself that need to be institutionalised frequently and long may it be so .

  17. I find the addition of rum or whiskey to every hot drink certainly keeps me warmer
  18. firstly a warm welcome to the NBN If you have an oil filled radiator at home ,and your boat has shore power, then bring it along Is the best way to be snug at night and more peaceful than the hot air heating aboard , obviously dependant on hook up being available . bring a squidgy to clear the condensation off the screen when underway as it can mist up , again a 12v car plug in demister is Invaluable but dependant on 12v socket on the helm .
  19. You’re quite correct Mike , it was bss we used him for , my mistake may well be worth giving him a ring however , if not as others have said it may be worth asking Richardson’s
  20. John , we used Alan May , found him excellent 07833657570 boatrepairs@hotmail.co.uk
