  1. Wow. Can’t wait to see one of those in the flesh. Bit beyond my budget and licence limit I expect. At the equivalent price of the, say, Honda c90 or 125 cub, the range seems to be about 50 miles electric compared to 200 petrol although the one Grendel pointed out seems a bit better. Id have to charge everyday going to Norwich and back. I guess these could end up being a rarity in years to come like the Enfield 8000. Milk floats are now commanding nearly 10k for a wreck and 20k in cream top condition! I think the classic car conversion route could work well given the much lighter weight though I’m not sure how it works regulation wise, vintage voltage tv has got me thinking an electric 2cv could be in order for retirement if fossil fuel has been phased out...
  2. New cars maybe. Not seen an electric equivalent of the motor bike, only the bicycle. Old cars will still be doing the rounds I expect....
  3. Perhaps an SS pole to hold the roof up MM? Also gimballed coasters on the bar.
  4. International VC Tar on a new hull might help in the battle against fibreglass madness / resomania (or osmosis to the man in the dyke). I have seen a hullsute example on the broads once after it had been left in for years, guessing at least ten or fifteen though. I don’t think worms mind old fashioned tar on a wooden boat!
  5. Hickling, lower end of the broad, in sight of the sun setting over the Smea. Fall asleep to the wildlife and the odd motorbike stonking down the Potter strait. Horsey nice too.
  6. Waste transfer note on arrival or send them away empty vanded. Your only defence is a WTN if fly tipped stuff gets traced back to you.
  7. Davits are a bit OTT, how's aboat one of them towbar mounted racks? If you can't decide what bike to bring then you can simply file two or three as seen on chelsea tractors crawling along the A149 North Norfolk coast road, looking for cycle lanes probably... I would echo Ray's recommendation but the real 'Surf Bikes' are the right tool for the job, far easier as you don't need a real bicycle to bolt on; the crank housing & pedals, seat and handle bars are already built on with propellor & rudder respectively. And it won't look any sillier on a boat than on an automobile!
  8. Advance apology if posted previously, a pic of a Santa with Coldham as the back drop. Taken the year I was born probably!
  9. What’s to stop a bunch of river cruisers trailing an excursion to Rutland, bit like punts at Aldeburgh?
  10. Blake’s could quench your thirst whether rag and stick or hullabaloo, reversible in case you’re undecided! Upon closer inspection of the wardrobe, Novel Ties of Macclesfield had the regalia contract judging by the label, finest terylene as the sails of the day I expect.
  11. When the subject of men’s jobs women’s jobs comes up notwithstanding having allegedly taken and passed the civil service exams the “Women Drivers” test never phases me.... who do you think drove ambulances in the war?
  12. That’s the tip of the pennant; at the other end are sellers who don’t know what they’re selling, I’ve bought many a badge from the £5 price point, never more than £10 though, which has no cue in title or description as to what it really is, and often dealers getting rid of surplus. I had a good one this week, pair of sunglasses rrp 60 for a fiver, I spotted something in the photo, added to the search and boom next cheapest £25.... I will have a fumble through my grandfathers old tool drawers just in case, all sorts turns up in those, I do have his old association boot lace tie but not for sale I’m afraid, I have a pile of 60s beer mats somewhere that came from the Pleasure Boat when my great aunt retired in the 70s, you can have one of those for free!
  13. There’s a Moores one and Percival’s on fleabay at the moment, may well find a Blake’s one by looking through all the enamel badges. Good luck!
  14. On many commercial projects I’ve been involved with over the years the ones that turned out best had female decorating gangs.
  15. The developers won’t let that happen though, flood the market that much and the price goes down after you’ve incurred the build cost especially if you run out of buyers, the govt are always moaning that more houses are not being built fast enough but the developers aren’t stupid, they like to take their time to preserve profit margins.
  16. The environment angle certainly doesn’t square with Boris’s directive to build build build. Leave the green belt alone for sure but continuing on the redundant riverside theme Deal ground next maybe?
  17. Shame you can’t get Thamesply anymore, they manufactured a quality product back in their day. Most stuff seems to be formwork grade these days. Whatever you get MM seal it with some preservative especially where the sun don’t shine!
  18. Good enough for the oxcam boat race next year, why knot?
  19. Quite, as the developer for the new scheme near Brundall Memorial Hall has just found out. The media is only reporting one side of the story though so hard to fathom if there’s something obvious beneath, eg a howler by the authority as happened in North North recently to a local developers benefit where no affordable housing is required.
  20. Pocket cruisers may be the way forwards in times of aquasterity, a trailer sailer makes sense so why not, cheaper to moor on your drive. 70s Caraboat worth a punt?
  21. Who said it was a man? Or indeed anyone at all. Could it be a UAV, that is Unmanned Aquatic Vehicle? If we’re headed for driverless cars why not helmless boats? And before everyone pounces yes I have taken and passed the civil service exams, or at least so I was told on another thread...
  22. Agree about the seat, I don’t think I could be trusted on it at this age though, circa 1972/3 so Woods must have been early takers albeit I think this looks to be a 38 Dawning Light class. Re the comment about layup I remember my dad rebuilding a rotary lawn mower with a rusted chassis onto a deck hatch cut off. A bit heavy to push so I can’t imagine what the boat it came from weighed!
  23. Fortunately it looks like the trees haven’t over sailed the track beds, I’d hate to see the railco appear at 2.00am on a Monday morning dressed in orange boiler suits armed with chainsaws, the rail mounted grab and chipper snorting like an iron dinosaur, lights blazing and locals peering out of their sash windows in their night shirts! (Moi) To be fair I was expecting it but it did get me thinking outside of the signal box, just how would you model all that detail right down to the chip dust spilling through the fence off of the embankment let alone the matchsticks holding up my eyelids! Model railways of the present and future may be challenging but therein lies the fun.
  24. Even if you’re a quango you’d normally expect to see a regulatory body hovering over and perhaps undertaking assessments from time to time to check that required standards are being met, certainly the norm for public sector contracting authorities. It’s not immediately obvious from BA website who that might be viz “regulated by the xyz authority”. This is separate to internally appointed audit committees etc. who are usually answerable to the regulator in such assessments. SteveO I think you’re saying they are self regulating entirely, Floyd’ what you’re suggesting is what will happen in this scenario!
