  1. When I first moved up to a coastal capable boat I heard many say "we'll do that when we retire and have more time" quite a few are no longer here, 1 can now barely walk and talk due to a stroke, you have made the right decision as long as you still have a roof and food, I'm so glad we did it.
  2. Can now confirm full 4 bar 4g at loddon staithe with lebara (vodafone network) and it's close to low water, must be a new mast close by.
  3. Hardley dyke is a fair way along the river from the 24hour moorings, they are Hardley cross at the mouth of the chet. Hardley dyke can be accessed by vehicle (3 blokes in a white transit, you know the type) where Hardley Cross can't.
  4. I paid a speeding fine by card once, and got cashback . Still had the 6 points though.... (long gone now, for a while anyway)
  5. The two best days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.....
  6. Don't buy too much till you've done an outing or two as your ideas are bound to change as you use it.
  7. Congratulations on your impending poorness, even if you end up on the broads a season on the great ouse is worthwhile, Barford to Needingworth is a lovely section but the ely end gets a bit boring with long straight runs. So what boat and name? I might recognise it.
  8. Ssshhhhhh, no-one mention the word Bishop... While combing the grass one has to hold compass to feug shui the centre parting correctly. And as it's beside the river another to issue the mooring fine. Maybe I'm not taking this entirely serious.....
  9. If on your boat you wouldn't be in a public area so ban wouldn't count. I think the idea is that they'll only enforce it if you are being a nuisance to others but it gives the powers, not that there will be anyone there to enforce it.
  10. I get you point MM but do you really think jp will listen once he has your money, we are just the little people that get in his way of his dream.
  11. Gotta admit not tried at the staithe as moored at pyes Mill, the path across the field to the back of the King's head is open again though. Did have good signal inside the swan and white horse though (wifi turned off) which I've never had before.
  12. 4g signal! What's that about then? I expect to have build a bonfire for smoke signals or release a carrier pigeon to communicate in Loddon, not just pick my phone up and have it work! It's just not on!
  13. Wait till later in the year..... Had to clear the props plenty of times along there, worst was a spring steel popup tent frame, luckily on outdrives as had to remove the prop to get if off, blagged a mooring in twenty pence while I did it from the dinghy. Once picked up a 100ft length of 1" 3 strand rope on the 100' luckily the eye spliced on the end hooked over 1 blade and just trailed without wrapping so could carry on with other engine while I unhooked it and pulled it in, dumped at denver sluice skip and it had been taken in the time it took for a couple of pints, recycling at it's best.
  14. After a couple of years have you checked below the surface of the water? Hope you get your boat back but that timescale don't bode well.
  15. Mine has gone but I think some of the bowman's have a threaded in rad cap fitted that you can get as a spare, a good engineering place can probably maching the old one out and tap the thread. Talk to bowman.
  16. Spotted you at rockland as we moved off, if I'd Spotted you earlier would have said hi. We'd had a good night in the pub and cleared them of Newcastle brown, went for a wee and all I could do was a why aye..... We were over by the outfall.
  17. Get in this year at the new Inn as Terry is leaving in November, they are not renewing the lease so may not be open next year if they don't get a new Tennant.
  18. Gotta admit talktalk have been great for me, good speeds all the time and when they didn't renew at the deal I wanted I signed up to Vodafone and cancelled at last minute to get the deal I wanted plus a £130 bonus off my bill and 2 months free. Think I'll be doing the same in autumn when the contract runs out again. Virgin on the other hand had got pathetically slow for hideous price, glad I escaped. Never plugged into the landline so scam calls are few and far between on the mobile.
  19. That may been the way a call I got a couple of days ago was going as I'm with talktalk, the foreign voice got as far as saying they were my broadband provider when I answered "that's nice for you, p*ss off" and hung up. They never called back though.
  20. You do visit some dodgy sounding places!
  21. I wouldn't have been happy with that, they caused the damage they should pay the lot, racing is not an excuse for expecting mobo's to do impossible manoeuvres and ignoring the duty to avoid collisions.
  22. I'll let you then as it's a WAFI thing.
  23. Surely if you needed a gooseneck for a sailing race you were cheating or is it another thing not for an engines exhaust?
