    My Day

It was free in my day all part of attracting mum with children to purchase in store, it's a very mercenary world we now have. John
  2. Yes Boat shed also have boats that are still being used and moored privately is also worth a look. John
  3. Where as a electric hire boat will be unsuitable a private electric boat can be, we often moor for several days and find a solar panel cope without having to plug in, having done all the broads many times we dont have to sail every day and try to do the lot in a week or so. Horses for coares. John
  4. Hi Suggest you dont look/get a boat to small/cheap so many do this then the next year have to upgrade to a better boat along with all the extra expanses A boat that doesn't need upgrading is cheaper in the long run (unless) you need a project. Best of luck John
  5. Or Solar panels that CAN charge for 18hrs a day for free. John
  6. When i was stern mooring on a chuck it mud weight i use to balance the mud weight on a piece of thin ply then when i needed to drop the weight i just pulled a lanyard that looped over the bow rail which tipped the weight into the water without having to leaving the helm. John
  7. Hi I would add that cars made before the war and some immediately after were designed to run on unleaded, Leaded fuel was invented/used to up the octane rating of aircraft engine fuel somewhere 140 octane, the germans who produced there aircraft fuel from coal could only manage 95 octane. John
  8. I will say that Honda's are bad for business rarely need repairs ford's easily and quick to repair French and Audi we are laughing all the way to the bank they pay for my boat. John
  9. Hi Ynys I find if you drop your mud weight when stern mooring this will stop your bows swinging with the tide or wind, then when moored pull weight in until rope is at a 15/20 degree angle this then will keep your stern away from the bank and prevent it knocking /rubbing. John
  10. Hi E5 has a higher octane rating than E10 that has 10 % Ethanol in it ie Corn fermented plant alcohol in it, IT (CAN) rot rubber components in older vehicles. E10 is the FAME derived petrol to sit besides the FAME Diesel.I only use E5 in my vehicles. John
  11. They could lower the high water level by constructing a flood barrier at Yarmouth, by restricting the incoming tide and allowing a full outflow tide there would be more space/time for the water level at Potter Higham to go lower for longer. Just like the Thames barrier demonstrated during the Queens Pageant by maintaining a constant tide level during the parade of boats.Of cause this my not be cost effective as a constant manipulation of the barrier would be needed but would stop flooding on the ten or so occasions that very high spring tides occur John
  12. Hi If you discharge overboard it dosn't matter BUT if you have a holding tank a small flush for a wee and a larger flush for a poo will fill your tank up slower than if you use just one flush which will be for the larger amount to clean/clear the bowl, or a hand pump flush where you just pump the amount to clear the bowl. John
  13. Hi I use a mop that you slide the bottom handle and twist it then squeezes out the water, works very well in mopping excess water/dew from cabin roof and deck. John
  14. Hi It is most probably Leak Sealer/crack sealer. it comes in liquid form that you run along the gap and creeps in, then dries to a tacky substance easily removed with petrol or meths. John
  15. Hi Andrew we have a 165 gallon tank we use a biodegradable additive/exciter it then works like a septic tank provide you use bio cleaner. John
  16. Or you could have solar powered fans in the roof they then work 365 days a year even in just daylight they fit in the chrome pancake ventilator cowls 'and cost nothing to run and are silent. John
  17. Hi Smoggy It's not light basically 1 1/2inch thick plastic about the same weight as kitchen worktops in chip ply. John
  18. Hi Andrew We had Corian on our boat as grif said seamless, inert you won't burn it by placing hot pans on impervious to damp, BUT beware there are very different prices out there, we had ours from a firm near Hull they sent a guy down to make a pattern then delivered it, it fitted perfice and they were half the price of so called budget kitchen suppliers. Very pleased it came with draining board grove's a up stand all round the edge to stop liquid running on the floor along with a sample of the material to enable any future repairs. And It's still as good as it was ten years ago. John
  19. Hi Yes I just received this myself i used a credit card as i received points that i could exchange for books on my Kindle, and i guess Amazon will be saving a great deal of outlay. John
  20. Hi Andrew A electric fresh water flushed sea toilet is the best BUT!! John
  21. Hi I guess that at the moment pubs and restaurants aren't the flavor of the month at the moment, and have been struggling the Yare as well perhaps? BUT it is well positioned almost in the centre of several thousand privately owned boats with no competition apart from Coldhams Hall for which need a boat to cross the river too and being freehold you won't have to worry about the rent going up yearly, they have after all been successful for past forty years no reason why it can't continyou. John
  22. Hi I use Jotans and recon on four years when i used Blakes only one years BUT i did have it lifted, pressure washed and chocked on the bank every year it was cheaper and easier to apply. John
  23. Hi Chris I wonder why when we went they just said you had Pfizer last time and any objections to having Pfizer booster this time. both of us have had no problems i'm sure it will be the same for you, we did however feel the jab this time perhaps we had a learner, just that the first two times i didn't feel a thing, just had a bit of a high temp after three days guess it shows it was doing its job. John
  24. Hi Vannesas Cory just spoke to my son who's a bus driver, they were told they can stop in a safe place on both days, on Thursday when he stopped and got of the bus the passenger's started to chatter until a oldish lady sitting at the rear shouted out for them to be silent which they all did, thankfully no one on Thursday or to day complained when he stopped, it is nice to see not all of our standards have left. John
  25. I think if i was in charge any body that hasn't been vaccinated with out good reason would not be admitted to hospital for covid treatment perhaps then it might concentrate the mind to be a better citizen and not be so lazy/backward in getting vaccinated. John
