If there is only a Volunteer Ranger at Ranworth the cost is negligible?

Reedham Quay excluding the Lord Nelson section (£10 overnight) is owned by Broadland District Council who carry out any repairs & provide the bins )It is leased by BA March till end of October & staffed currently (9am till 6pm less a lunch break) Charging for even overnight will bring its own problems. Many users do need help especially in difficult weather & tide conditions & I do wonder if one person could cope especially in the last hour whilst trying to catch up with crews with a card reader + pocket full of change & check ropes for the night - any that were away to pubs or shops could easily slip out early next morning as many do anyway to catch the tide at GY Discuss -

Closure Of Neatishead Staithe For Works
Bytheriver replied to Mouldy's topic in Broads Authority Notices
The notice caused a major panic last night when on a (visitor orientated) FB page someone asked if there was electric hook up at Neatished at Christmas & someone who had half read the notice claimed the staithe was going to be closed from this Friday! There must have been a dozen comments inside an hour - some from people who had clearly not seen the official notice! ( It was there for all to see about 3 messages down the page ) -
Reedham Bridge Possible Disruption
Bytheriver replied to ranworthbreeze's topic in Broads Authority Notices
The signallers at both get the go ahead to open or close from the Signalling Centre at Colchester from where the branch lines have been controlled since the update a couple of years ago. I suspect they will be controlled direct from Colchester sometime in the future following the completion of equipment updating they already have CCTV cameras pointing up & down stream. -
-making a tiny profit on a sale of 30 or 50 litres whilst downing tools to do so with a smile wouldn't be my idea of getting rich quick. I think this just about sums it up! Same goes for doing Pump outs.

Just a couple of points from earlier comments Some pubs have realised that at some stage they will have to pay for the re-building of their quay and maybe even pay higher insurance cost Electric posts are not cheap to install - You can see how much they cost recently at Acle Bridge & others. A real rise in Tolls would be needed - Luckily many of existing locations were paid for by the pre-privatisation Electricity Boards to encourage greater us of electricity to power boats Finally there are some questions in the consultation documents for the Broads Local Plan which are relevant - Closing date now less than a week away but BA welcome all comments https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/about-us/how-we-work/transparency/consultations

Report those hogging the electric points to Broads Control - if done frequently enough & with photographic back up they may do something The Rangers are mostly working on the banks at this time of year. (be nice to the controller though)

Not on agenda as far as I can see https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/about-us/committees/broads-authority/broads-authority-2-december-2022?SQ_CALENDAR_DATE=2022-12-02

Have to say many Pubs have old (forgotten & locked out of) websites so not to be relied upon - New tenants usually have no access to their predecessors sites Facebook & Tripadvisor are probably more reliable. Phone in likely open hours probably even better Due to heating cost many seem to be updating almost weekly to avoid any cost as we run into the quiet season with the ongoing uncertainty (hence I am reluctant to quote any open hours)

BA Pillars have 2 x 16a + 1 x 32a but they were for charging the electric boats they were expecting 20 years ago Many private craft have a 32a adaptor for use if the 16a's are both in use but all down to the boats equipment how much you can use (and if the cable will allow more power through)

MIAB like their Railway equivalent get most unhappy if recommendations ( which are accepted by all involved prior to publication hence some of the time lag ) are ignored & something similar happens again & sure Insurance Companies would not be impressed either

The kit at Norwich did suffer a breakdown last summer but good when its working but very expensive to replace Some yards have to have the product tankered away adding to the cost by the way. Yards that are not busy all day doing pump outs do find it disruptive someone having to break away to do the odd one - no doubt why DIY seems the trend? Biggest problem with both toilet on boat & pump kit is the usual suspects of wrong items being put into the system

This is not of course the first edition of a "Broads Plan" I have a printed copy of the 1987 version + the last one issued 3-4 years ago It could still be on- line. They set the scene for (hopefully) future progress for everyone to see? They also form a basis for acquiring funding - Organisations like BA (other members of the National Park Family ) are required to demonstrate to DEFRA and other governmental departments that an regularly updated document is in place..

Norfolk Broads Petrol And Diesel Boats To Be Phased Out.
Bytheriver replied to Vaughan's topic in Broads Chat
Maybe a member with the right skills and a knowledge of the Broads could work out where there may be a power supply near to locations where NEW moorings could be provided with enough power for overnight charging. Would go someway to resolving two issues & I am sure funding could be found - I have in mind supplies to pumping stations as well as lines under or over rivers? Genuine blue sky question
