  1. Think that means opposite Lathams Fishing Tackle Store
  2. Loddon Toilets have been targeted by vandals and worse for many years now with the cleaners having to return far more often than is needed at very similar locations - even CCTV does not seem to deter them
  3. At least they have not followed Great Yarmouth Borough Council who removed all bins for boat waste in 2014
  4. Thinking of North Norfolk District Council - they were planning to close the public toilets at Potter Heigham ( the ones with the sign so small visitors don't spot them) I will find out if they have been convinced to keep them open
  5. May be worth making enquiries today as bee keepers are probably desperate to locate new swarms
  6. Showing a Norfolk CC till 22 April with Temporary Lights with delays unlikely
  7. Back in the 1980s I hired from a yard on the Thames ( even then it was a ex Broads Bathtub ) I was charged White Diesel price despite it clearly being Red
  8. Oddly enough it is not on "One" which is where approved locations are announced by NCC A whole day can be lost since specialist contractors put up & remove signage before & after the works
  9. On the subject of diesel fired boat heaters which are basically truck cab heaters ( so turned on at the end of probably 8hours + driving) the usual advice for boats is to start the engine and run fast enough for the gauge to show a charge before switching on then run till unit is putting out heat (so the glowplug is at running temperature) then shut off engine. These units have improved a lot in recent years & when hiring I always made a habit of trying to do a couple of hours cruising on takeover on the basis that the previous user could have well been in the yard since the previous evening I never had a boat with external 240v provision.
  10. This is a similar set up to that at Neatished since 2020 where there is also a Glass Bank. Good to see North Norfolk District Council investing in the tourist industry. I wonder if Great Yarmouth Borough Council will do the same in their area at Thurne, Stokesby and their side of Potter Heigham Bridge where the tiny litter bins have to be emptied daily in the season & even Acle Bridge where the current bins are provided I think by BA.
  11. I'm told work is on schedule as per the notice & craft will be able to pass the remaining work from Friday 1st April
  12. This link includes the 2022-23 details https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/facilities/electric-boat-charging-points
  13. The East Norwich Regeneration currently being worked on by the City Council could include a Marina & a Mooring Basin though all in fairly early stages though much of the site along the riverside are old Colman factories which have to be retained however it now seems accepted that the City must not turn its back on the river any more. https://www.norwich.gov.uk/info/20427/east_norwich_regeneration The redevelopment of the former long abandoned Eastern Electricity building further up stream has attracted some strong objections. https://planning.norwich.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=externalDocuments&keyVal=R7O3DBLX0HQ00
  14. Refused for second time March 2022
  15. Tide so low on Tuesday evening Reedham Ferry had to close early
  16. Even better bus service from Acle to both Norwich & Great Yarmouth both right to shopping area 4 per hour & free to those of a certain age plus plenty of free parking in Acle within walking distance (added info for those not familiar with the area)
  17. Anglian Water - Scheduled till 3rd March
  18. The garden is much better now it has matured it was bleak when originally laid out and of course different to when someone lived there full time, holiday lets have to be low maintenance as no doubt someone comes to cut the grass & tidy up but that's all - no time to tie up the Dahlias as in the past. People new to letting soon find out how difficult it is to keep gardens looking good - this one was sort of ahead of its time for low maintenance & it was good to see some colour for late in the season.

The Ship - Food every day and breakfasts Mon-Sat from Easter The Lord Nelson - Food Wed-Sun at present with 3/4 bookable moorings at £10 per night ( a couple in reach of the Electric Post)
  20. It looks to me like the 2015 Planning Permission for the 10 Residential Moorings expired in January 2021 & there is no sign of a further application?
  21. On two boats from two different yards last November on a wet & windy evening when the Quay Attendants had finished for the winter. When the one I helped was asked if they had been given any specific mooring instructions for rough weather they just looked blank & said "No" The other (when finally helped by a local boat owner) even had the bow rope up & around the rail & then straight down onto the mooring post. Both only had one stern rope out.
  22. You can always keep track on here https://one.network/ Its linked to the County Highways register of roadworks - There is nothing booked so far in next 3 months in the Wroxham area
  23. BA turn them off in winter to save confusion ( bag No2 has finally disintegrated) First job for seasonal Rangers - wash down the quay
  24. The Ship re-opened July 2021 - open 7 days a week with food Breakfasts Mon - Sat restart at Easter Most popular Ale - Humpty Dumpty ( I asked on Monday)
  25. According to the statement at the time of the licence application they were not aiming at the hire trade at all so always wondered who they expected to drop by & get sufficient trade to maintain a profit margin
