  1. It is dated March 2021 so suspect nothing happened?
  2. Here is a Network Rail Video taken July 2021
  3. Despite the noisy old former main line engines the carriages were extremely comfortable They were a hired in stop-gap when the new units were late The old DMUs where whisked off to Wales as soon as the Flirts all arrived. I suspect pollution halved around Norwich Station when the Class 37s finally went
  4. There are usually 84 trains a day M-F but currently on Sunday service which is about 64 a day plus the odd stock move The new Flirt trains are quiet quiet compared with older type units which had the engines slung under the bodies You can walk through the engine sections without being deafened by the 3 or 4 Transit type engines.
  5. Don't forget to reply to the Official Consultation - a detailed synopsis of replies are usually published so well worth doing especially as some sections are still being formulated.
  6. This may be of interest - the BBC item includes a interview with Julian Glover It certainly picks up on some of the points raised locally https://deframedia.blog.gov.uk/2022/01/17/coverage-of-the-governments-response-to-the-landscapes-review/
  7. This may be of help from the Charity that is the umbrella organisation for all of the National Park Friends Groups & Societies https://www.cnp.org.uk/news/campaign-national-parks-calls-new-landscapes-bill-government-responds-glover-review

  9. Here is the link to the Governments long awaited response to The Glover Report with a 12 week Consultation https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/landscapes-review-national-parks-and-aonbs-government-response Constructive comments welcome For those not wanting to see the entire document here is the Official Press Release https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ambitious-proposals-to-strengthen-our-protected-landscapes-announced?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=govuk-notifications-topic&utm_source=7bf33e5b-e2bb-4fc7-b346-7184cf6fa5c1&utm_content=daily
  10. There were 5 Network Rail & contractor vans at Reedham Bridge earlier in the week. They are on site within an hour or so of a breakdown but takes a while to have any spare parts sourced or made. The overhaul planned for the spring has been delayed due to problem between Network Rail & Greater Anglia over possessions needed ( Info from yesterdays Navigation Committee which can be viewed on Youtube ) Sorry no Info specifically on Somerleyton
  11. EA has just published the Friday morning readings for Barton Broad & have been in steady decline 15cm lower this morning than 5 days ago with very little variation between high & low
  12. Any update - according to the EA charts levels are now falling & looks like the Repps Gauge is back up after being missing for a while. Todays almost continuous rain may have some effect for a day or so
  13. If you don't take you own knives especially at the start of the season make sure there is a Bread Knife. One year we had a really nice crusty load & low and behold 2 carving knives - Totally spoiled the experience my crew who were 11 at the time were less than impressed with chunks of bread!
  14. Shows on the "one" system as Anglian Water & booked till 14th January with Temporary Traffic Lights
  15. We see it at Reedham many times a day when crews use the thrusters to turn in mid stream when a quick blip on full lock would do the job in half the time and at less annoyance to others manoeuvring at the same time
  16. Luckily the factory does not operate in season else ear-plugs would sell well alongside the electric cards (not heard the end of campaign date for 2022 they were the last sugar factory to start up last autumn)
  17. Brooms at Brundall - worth a call they may even have the odd boat out?
  18. There are also phone numbers on the BA webpage for those without radio Be nice to the bridge operators (contact was stopped a couple of years ago partly due to abuse) & they have to wait after a train has crossed for the Colchester Signalling Centre to give them the electronic OK before they can open up) - there are only 2 trains an hour so print out a copy of Greater Anglia Table 8 so you can see what times to avoid ( At Reedham most services cross near the bridge so only 10-12 minutes they cannot open Somerleyton a bit longer. Also check tide times & if springs or neaps as the window for passing with bridge closed will vary. If there are 2 red flags flying it means the bridge will not open but Network Rail are pretty quick attending if the is a fault. Both Bridges have illuminated boards with info.
  19. Looks like someone does not know their councils - Wroxham is in Broadland District Councils area & they are not a Highways Authority though sweep the streets & put up the street name plates ( Hoveton on the other side of the river is in North Norfolk & is host to Roys of Wroxham just to add to the confusion ) Roll on a Unitary Council.
  20. Its coming up as Norfolk CC Carriageway Subsidence Emergency repairs 13-15 Dec rather than from any of the service providers this time
  21. You can check it out on here https://one.network/ Its the Norfolk County Councils Agent - zoom into Wroxham on the map & you can get current & the next two weeks booked closures blockages & diversions. The current one in Wroxham is Anglian Water
  22. In poor weather/tide conditions especially off season I suspect the rangers would much prefer you to be tucked up somewhere safe especially on the way back to base. Just seen (Wed morning) Spirit of Braydon on patrol through Reedham
  23. I was by Reedham Swing Bridge at 10am tide already just on the ebb & already showing 10'4" under the bridge & had not been much higher by the looks of it
  24. I remember reading a report into the 2013-14 floods but good old Google has let me down but this report from Exeter University seems to give a fair overall prospective https://geography.exeter.ac.uk/media/universityofexeter/schoolofgeography/winterfloods/documents/Butler_et_al_2016_Socia_Political_DynamicsFloods.pdf
  25. Its a requirement of NPPF There was a new edition issued July 2021 - makes an interesting read with many mentions of "The Broads" ( That area were BA is the Planning Authority ) having equal status to a National Park https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1005759/NPPF_July_2021.pdf
