  1. Aw, how was she looking? I know Alan said that she had been sold. I can't remember what Swancraft are charging at the mo but I'm sure it would be very reasonable.
  2. I would imagine that a toilet/holding tank would be easier to fit during the build and possibly a bit more problematic to alter later, although I'm sure it could be done. However just to throw another suggestion into the mix. I don't know what Andy's budget is but Swancraft (one of our sponsors) have two very nice 24 foot boats available - both designed for the Broads. These can be seen on the website https://www.shadowboats.co.uk/brokerage/ I've seen both of them and they are cracking boats, I could be very tempted myself if I didn't have a slight problem with the piggy bank.
  3. If I could just mention the RSPCA which is a charity I support. They are split, the national RSPCA is different to the local branches. The local branches are self funding and receive no help from headquarters. I popped into the local charity shop in Stalham and left them a pocketful of loose change I had accumulated. It will all be spent locally. I would respectfully suggest that if you want to donate to the RSPCA, do it to the local Branch eg East Norfolk, rather than the national
  4. Aw, you wouldn't know I was there and I wouldn't know you were there!! Could have passed each other without knowing Another time maybe There were a very nice group of gentleman on ES - I took a photo for them!
  5. We moor there in the winter and the guys there are brilliant, really helpful. They are on Twitter so I've been using that. But whichever means you use, if you let them know they will make space and help you. Top marks from us
  6. Aw, we were in the Caxton Club yesterday Jean' Not afloat sadly, just a long weekend thought this was Fireman Sam for a mo but it's EVENING Shadow
  7. Cracking day at the Bridge Inn
  8. I know the Eaton Cottage well, proper pub, knowledgeable landlord and excellent beer. Problem is - local CAMRA branches get an allocation in the National Guide for so many pubs. The Norwich Branch covers not only Norwich but a large area of rural Norfolk too. Problem is that the area has just too many excellent pubs. I'm pretty familiar with most of the pubs in Norwich, certainly within the inner ring road, and a great many of them, with a few notable exceptions, are very worthy of inclusion. My colleagues at Norwich CAMRA have the un-enviable task of voting for a large number of excellent pubs and it's a sad fact that there simply isn't room for them all and sadly some have to fall by the wayside even though there is nothing wrong with them. It is a difficult one. I can remember when only a handful of pubs in Norwich sold real ale. How times have changed!
  9. True indeed Neil (well, mid December to be pedantic) I would say that's an understatement! Quiet rivers, no engines running on moorings, pubs decked out for the festive season. I cannot wait!!!
  10. Always have a Plan B Preferably near a pub
  11. Exactly Trevor. We are lucky to have an independent old school butcher just a few minutes away. Superb quality, all meat and poultry sourced locally and all traceable. Little bit more expensive but well worth it. He gets customers from all over the area including many restaurants etc.
  12. It's a classic example of where folks need to moor with consideration, not leave big gaps! ( been there etc)
  13. It is Simon, the upstream side is higher due to the camber of the road. However that side of the bridge has a board mounted underneath it to compensate for the difference. So in effect you have the same clearance either side. I don't think there is much rise and fall of the tide up there. I've always been happy to go through without worry. It is a fairly low bridge though, I think the average is a bit over 7 feet but would stand to be corrected. I agree, its a lovely stretch. We went up there in May with Tower Bridge and had no problems.
  14. Just spotted this, not sure if it's been posted before https://visitthebroads.co.uk/search/event-detail?listing=4&key=812731
  15. Looks like the flappies have been out today. Looks quite breezy. Just wondered if anyone had seen them or got any photos? These nicked as usual from Broads Beat
  16. That's why the Cators are millionaires and we're all skint! (I suppose they would argue it's for maintenance and to pay the guy to collect the money) (Can't say I've ever troubled them though)
  17. Looks like the cue to get the wellies out (nicked from the BA)
  18. Not with bottles of San Miguel hopefully - from a previous occupant...... My favourite!! I'm not jealous of course.....spent some happy hours there on open days!! Cracking photos again Helen, many thanks for sharing
  19. Keep your eyes peeled Helen! Sorry about the lack of pubs but quite understand! I'm sure you'll make up for it in February! It's not cheap, I've never added up our bar bill, I'd rather not know!!!!!!
  20. I think I mentioned before, wonderful time to be out Helen! There could be Nogs about however I'm sure Fireman Sam once mentioned that weeks do go begging in the winter, so you never know if you fancy an earlier break. Great write up and photos BTW - many thanks for sharing
  21. If it's where I think it is, near St George's Bridge, there won't be much river traffic up there. The Playhouse has a very good bar incidentally
  22. Not a huge Woodfordes fan (apart from Norfolk Nog) but saw this up here in flat cap land. Is it Nelsons Revenge re-badged I wonder?
  23. No shortage of takers! Much as we love the river Mrs Nog and I have paused for some light refreshments
