  1. Broom's fuel pump was out of order this morning, if you need fuel it might be better if contact them to check if they have had it repaired yet, 01603 712334 is the Reception number. Regards Alan
  2. Hi Jon, Please thank your owner for providing the video, glad to see they called in the Waters Edge. Regards Alan
  3. Hi Grace, I guess that wine saver you had as a present is still in its box in the loft or a bottom draw Regards Alan
  4. Hi Peter, Similar to the car park scams that pop up from time to time. Regards Alan
  5. There is a current shortage of 4.5KG gas bottles from Calor, very little stocks, Broom's currently have no stock although there were some at the Brundall DIY. It might be if you do use this size of gas bottle that you may have to shop around to get any. Can anyone knowing of current stocks please list on this topic. Please state locations and Northern or Southern rivers. Regards Alan
  6. Hi Paul, I think you will find that all the private electric posts other than the B.A. cards are different, many have the name of the location on them but they look very similar to the B.A. cards. Most of the electric post card readers after putting the credit on the post punch the card with 3 small pips to indicate the card is used.
  7. Hi William, As well as the B.A. electric posts on the Southern Rivers, there are a number of private electric points or yacht station facilities. These are all the points I know of:- Oulton Broad at the Yacht Station Beccles Yacht Station Waveney River Centre Someleyton B.A posts Reedham B.A. posts Loddon Staithe B.A. posts Beauchamp Arms will provide power Rockland St Mary Staithe B.A. posts Coldham Hall Ferry House Inn Brammerton Green B.A posts Waters Edge Whitlingham Country Park B.A. posts Norwich Yacht Station Regards Alan Regards Alan
  8. Hi William, The information and link to the Broads Authority Charging Points is found below:- http://forum.norfolkbroadsnetwork.com/forum/11-useful-links-slipways-information/ Regards Alan
  9. Hi Iain, I guess a bit of all three, mention boat or recreational vehicle and the zero's start adding to the bill. You have only got to look at 4 inch fans, mains versions from £12.00, 12 volt are from £50.00 with many being £100.00 for the more silent type. Regards Alan
  10. Bow thrusters are an aid, great when you need them, they are a godsend with limited crews but you need to use them with care. I only use ours when needed and in short bursts, they draw a large amount of current and can flatten batteries with ease when holding the bow thruster switch for long periods. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Vaughan, That the problem these days too much talk and little if no action. Feasibility studies, action plans and long drawn out debates have turned most of us into talkers rather than doers. Regards Alan
  12. Hi Jean, We all like it when everything works out and we make that perfect mooring, just stepping off the boat rope in hand with the fenders hardly touching the mooring, no tugging of ropes or frantic revving of the engine. Sadly wind & tide do not always allow for this even to the seasoned boater. From experience we all tend to know those mooring locations that there is always tidal issues where the only course of action is to reverse from the moorings, the green at Stokesby springs to mind. The only times I have moored at Reedham is to take on fuel or water, a fast flowing river and concrete walls can be a killer to fiberglass, preferring mooring at Reedham Ferry (not on the rickety wooden staging however). Regards Alan
  13. Hi Trev, Marina Keys, I can not understand why this site has not been converted to an off river marina, if it was it would solve most of the problems with mooring at Yarmouth. Regards Alan
  14. Hi Vaghan, You would think that, but it is not always the case A few years ago when we were moored at Ferry Marine (we only used their fuel station once, it used to be right at the back of the marina and very difficult to get in) so we used Bolters mostly. That Monday afternoon it was very windy so we decided to use that yard that Richardson's have now taken over. I can not remember who operated their then, we managed to moor up and went to the office, A manager was in their and I asked for fuel and the two toilet tanks emptying, you would have thought I had two heads. He just said we do not open Mondays! So I leaned over the wall and shouted to Sonny, if they could take our lines if we popped round the corner. No trouble was the reply. So this managers loss was Boulters gain because the fuel and pump outs came to well over £100.00 because we had been all over the Broads that week and fuel was a lot cheaper then. We love the slow place in Norfolk but the mind boggles at times with the lack of business sense. Regards Alan

  16. Hi Grendel, We see this a lot when stern moored at Beccles yacht station, definately a place for loose lines and active use of well placed mud weight. Regards Alan
  17. I remember many years ago seeing a picture of a yacht totally suspended by its ropes on the Yarmouth Harbour wall. Regards Alan
  18. Counting down the days to being on the boat 55 to go, but only 51 days to be back in Norfolk, going down for our AGM. Regards Alan
  19. I have been informed that the Tingdene Reception, toilet block and wet rooms are back in operation, sadly the Bistro is still closed. Regards Alan
  20. I had a message from the owner that was on Ranworth Breeze late yesterday saying that no services were available at Broom's at all yesterday, lets hope they were open today. I have had to ask the next owner to refuel & pump out and this will be paid by the leaving owner. Not very often this happens but problems happen, a few years ago Broom's had sold out of fuel so I managed to get 37 liters from Sanderson's and a pump out, not ideal but fuel is sparse at times on the Southern Broads. Regards Alan
  21. Hi Andy, I sympathize with you, anyone who has been self employed will understand that tough decisions have to be made, long hours, holidays if you have them are cut short, and always being on call, being an unpaid tax collector, overwhelmed with paperwork and the banks whipping boy. Everyone thinks that working for yourself is easy, time off when you like, paid what you want, until they try it. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Trev, If you tip the Karcher or do not empty it before it is full, you will get the same effect, they also blow water out. One of the good things with the Karcher you can purchase a much smaller blade. Regards Alan
  23. Hi Matt, We were down the first week in July and the Southern Rivers were the busiest we have seen them, mooring was at a premium and all of the usual popular spots were quite full, we were glad we booked a mooring at the Beccles Yacht Station. Regards Alan
  24. One of our owners has reported that they tried to get fuel and a pumpout earlier this afternoon, unfortunately whoever was on the pumps this morning went home after an injury, sadly he has taken the keys so nobody else can service the customers at the fuel station. I hope they can send a runner before tomorrow. Freedom are closed on Sundays and that would have been the nearest place that I know about to get any fuel. Regards Alan
