  1. Hello Howard, Needless to say we have not had a notification and there is nothing on the Broads Authority website but again it is the weekend so other than the front line troops there is nobody working at the B.A. It might be an idea to contact the Broads Authority river control :- If you want to contact the Broads rangers, you can phone Broads Control on 01603 756056 or VHF channel 12 or email Broads.control@broads-authority.gov.uk Regards Alan
  2. Hello dnks34, Your stance is commendable but while ever the Broads is managed by this quango I have a feeling that you are wasting your breath, the good doctor does not seem to listen to anyone including his own officers and front lined troops. Regards Alan
  3. Hello Rob & Caz welcome to the NBN forum. Regards Alan
  4. I am really looking forward to the program, not only Tim & Pru but some screening of the Broads. Regards Alan
  5. We have found the Kings Head and most of the other Weatherspoons we have been in on our boating holidays to be busy, value for money and often have offers on selected meals such as a free drink or even a free bottle of wine with two steak meals. Regards Alan
  6. Come on guys scooter riders are the same as everyone in life there is good and bad. I am sure our dear Iain would have been scolding you all. Please lets have a bit of decorum. Regards Alan
  7. Hello Andrew, As already stated we are all forum friends here. How did you find the Ladd's week? Regards Alan
  8. I started work as a apprentice electrician in 1968 the hourly rate was one shilling and three halfpence an hour, my first weeks wages for a full week (5 days) plus an hours overtime one night and a Saturday morning was a little over £5 with the stoppages. Regards Alan
  9. The introduction of decimal in 1971 gave us petrol of 29 P a gallon, fish, chips & peas from a chip shop at 14 P, well these were Yorkshire prices, I have forgotten the price per pint but in the late 60's I can remember it being 2 shillings and a penny for a pint of Stones. Regards Alan
  10. That was indeed the case, was it the gravel pits just before Commissioners Cut? Regards Alan
  11. Hi Ray, I bet they do not get many footballers taking part with the stingy BBC it would be well under their pay grade. Regards Alan
  12. No, We already have a wind indicator and a NBN burgee on the boat. Regards Alan
  13. I blame it on the cheese sandwich I had for lunch Regards Alan
  14. Whitlingham strikes me as an under used resource, yes there are some water activities on there and it would seem a good place to walk dogs. If it was connected to the river I am sure a marina complex with real visitor moorings might encourage more crews to visit the area and provide the city and the Southern Rivers with a new profitable resource. Regards Alan
  15. The first time we came to the Broads in 2001 we were amazed at the tills in Roys both in the supermarket and the department store, it so similar to the Devon supermarkets. Of course we are on our holidays so time is not too much of an issue. Things have speeded up since then but it is still quaint, we always thought how the staff would cope in a major city. Regards Alan
  16. I agree with John (mm) those letters are the only proof that someone is using your identity. I would write to the companies involved and inform them that you are not the people they are after but your address is correct and tell them how long you have lived there, keep a copies of all correspondence and send any letters by recorded delivery. Like the telephone preference service you can get a similar service from the Royal Mail. Before you recycle your paper remove any traces of your name, address an identifying codes on all correspondence. Never fill in or answer any surveys, offers of prizes always come with catches. When you fill in guarantees and the like only fill in the sections of your name and address and the item you bought, nothing else is relevant and you can bet that these details will be sold on. If it continues then you must report it to the Police if only for the incident number, this again is proof of what is happening. Regards Alan
  17. I rather like the picture of the good Dr Packman (looks like a Clive Sinclair lookalike) holding up his world, just a pity he can't spell the Broads correctly. Regards Alan
  18. You have to laugh at the above, sadly most of it is true. It is so must better to laugh rather than shake your fist in anger or cry at the injustice of it all. Regards Alan
  19. The price of wine in pubs has always been an issue, most of the pubs on the broads would charge you similar. When we used to go up Bowness every year most of the pubs there charged £4.40 for a 175 ml glass and that was in 2010. Regards Alan
  20. After our winter service in February 2012 we had to wait a few days for the low tides to increase enough to relaunch our boat at Brundall. Regards Alan
  21. The bin/bins used to be located at the public toilets at Womak Staithe. Regards Alan
  22. Hi Q, Please upload a picture so we can all see what you are describing. Regards Alan
  23. Hello Regulo, I have sent you a PM saying if you send me your picture files I will try and upload them for you. Regards Alan
  24. A number years ago I came to the conclusion that there is no point in taking out white goods insurance, if you get it to last out the manufactures guarantee all the good, if it fails there after the additional amount you have paid in additional insurance is halfway to the cost of a new appliance. Mind you being handy and a wife who can break anything of a technical nature does have its drawbacks; one of them in repairing the small white god in the utility room oh hail thee washing machine please keep working Regards Alan
