  1. Hi Ian, I am so glad to hear that you are now on the mend at least with regards to your arms, you both have certainly been through the wars this year. Regards Alan
  2. Hello Neil, Thank you for your pictures, are you going to enter some for the calendar? Regards Alan

  4. Dear All Futher to my e-mail below, Breydon Water is now navigable to all craft. Kind Regards Laura Milner Administrative Officer Operations Broads Authority Tel: 01603 756035
  5. Hi Matt, Sadly we do not have any school shares available since I bought the one that was for sale. Regards Alan
  6. Yes Matt they only get one week each being as we have six school shares, most syndicates struggle to accommodate even six weeks these days because most schools are getting towards a five week period. The management team on Ranworth Breeze have to check all the area's that our owners live in, for example we are now checking out the summer holidays listing for 2019 ready for our draw in this years AGM. I would guess that you have only 3 school share owners or less in your syndicate. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Carol, The pillars that are still visible towards the hill would seem to fit in with your theory. Regards Alan
  8. Hello Snowy, We have stayed in most of the balcony rooms over the years, my advice would be not to have a room above the restaurant/function room because of the catering fans on the roof above the rooms in this area, try for a room nearer toward the center of the building or near to the bridge. Regards Alan

  10. Hello Gary and welcome to the forum. Regards Alan
  11. Hi Neil, As you know the boat syndicates do tend to work differently, take for example the Southern Crusader syndicate they have a system where you buy a set week or weeks (this week number is the same each year other than date adjustments every seventh year). On Ranworth Breeze we have a three teared system where we have six school weeks owners and 14 standard week owners (these are split into red and green weeks and the owners alternate between green and red weeks each year. Each group draw their allocations out of the hat at the AGM (so at this years AGM we will be drawing out dates for 2019) The six school weeks owners will be able to draw a date in the summer holiday period and a corresponding date at the start of the season in March (one owner will get the halfterm week). The red week owners will draw an early summer week (the seven weeks before the summer holidays) and a autumn week. The green week owners will draw a spring week (from the 7th and 13th week of the season) and late summer (the next seven weeks after the summer holidays). The following year these 14 owners change from red to green and vice versa. We have had this type of share since the boat was launched and have seen all variations of the seasons without the busy school holidays. We do offer changing allocations after the draws are complete and there are measures in place to accommodate changes during the season. I know most of the other syndicates have 4 week shares, some will offer an an half share (2 weeks) some have dedicated school weeks and I believe that some have a rotation system. Maybe some of the other syndicate owners would like to post in the forums syndicate area how their allocations work. Regards Alan
  12. Hello David, If you want any advice by all means PM me or send a message by our website, Tan & I are into our 17th year in our syndicate. I can let you have details of websites to check for additional advice and one that lists all the syndicate boats on the canals & Broads. Regards Alan
  13. Hi Snowy, Ranworth Breeze & Southern Crusader can get under the Yarmouth bridges on suitable tides, sadly Ludham is out, you may well have seen Fair Diplomat going under Ludham but that is a special lowered mould that gets the air draft down to around 8 foot 6 inches, Ranworth Breeze has an air-draft of 9 foot 8 inches. Yes I have been to the Norwich Yacht Station. Regards Alan
  14. Hello David, Have you thought about syndicate ownership, our boat is to small for all of you but Thunder has 8 berths. Lightening 7 berths and Moonlight Shadow 6. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Grendel, More times than not I can't work with gloves. My hands tend to look like yours, I have found those decorators wipes are good for getting some of the staining off. Of course there is always the fallback of Swarfega and grit for the hardy Regards Alan
  16. Hi Griff, He is a little star and at 8 lb a good weight. Congratulations to all of the family. All you have to do now is work out what you are going to be called Granddad, Grandpa, Gramps. Regards Alan
  17. Now is that a talent or it a case of how Griff tells them Regards Alan
  18. At one time driving used to be a pleasure, not so much these days, there is always some numpty that will spoil your day it would seem, usually within a few miles from home even after a 3 or 5 hour uneventful journey. Regards Alan
  19. Hi Richard, It not so much the fenders bumping that made us fit fender socks many years ago, it was the squeaking of the fenders in heavy wind. OK we do not get the fenders squeaking now but we still get it from the ropes, on the Tuesday night of the storm a few weeks ago now of our crew had any sleep that night. Our NBN burgee flies proud, we also have a wind indicator. Regards Alan
  20. Hi Ian, I guess you are more comfortable at the moment, maybe its the drugs, I hope these fractures do heal fairly soon for you to relieve your boredom
  21. Hi James I totally agree with David's post you have nothing to live up to, forum members like all posts regarding other peoples visits to the Broads. Regards Alan
  22. Grace please leave the jokes to Griff, he can cope with the abuse Regards Alan
  23. Hello Susan, Welcome to the forum. The Southern Rivers are full of good locations and in my opinion the best pubs/restaurants on the Broads. Why not moor at the Rockland St Mary staithe. Bramerton Green or outside the Waters Edge. The Ferry House Inn at Surlingham (now the moorings have been finished) is a very good location. Somerleyton 24 hour moorings (now with electric posts) and the Dukes Head up the lane offers good food. Beccles Yacht Station offers good moorings (it is a tidy walk into Beccles) but worth visiting this market town for provisions and its pubs. Visit Oulton Broad if only for the power boat racing (usually on Thursday evenings and bank holidays, see the fixtures list). Please join in on the topics on the forum and ask for advice if necessary and let us know how you get on with your visit next season. Regards Alan
