  1. The Broads wont be the same without Ken-quite simply a great & courageous guy-glad I have quite a bit of his excellent craftsmanship on Sandpiper-RIP old friend Boycee
  2. Just to let everybody know that the annual Reedham Charity Duck Race will take place this Sunday 26th August. There will be two races this year-The Corporate race with 12 Large ducks all sponsored planned to start at 3.30pm & the small duck race with circa 2000 ducks planned to start around 4.00pm. The races will be run from opposite the Ship Inn to The Quay Rangers hut. Ducks are still available for sale at £ 2.50 each and all participants will receive a replica duck for each ticket purchased so if you want a bit of excitement on Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon come along to Reedham Quay, buy a duck and watch it race-you could win one of several prizes and if your duck is first over the line you will get the winners Trophy to keep for a year plus a cash prize of £250.00 Boycee
  3. What a great read-well done-Iwas enthralled with the story Boycee
  4. You are right Howard Alpha centre cockpits need 8ft 6" with the roof up.Apparently the roof was badly damaged and she was stuck for almost an hour, although the crew were quite close to the bank when rescued, but she could not be freed until the tide had turned sufficiently Alan
  5. An eyewitness friend of mine tells me it was Starfire the 42ft centre cockpit boat from Alpha craft with a fixed canopy Boycee
  6. Hi Ranworthbreeze Just to let you know that the mooring & Electric costs for Oulton Broad & Beccles Yacht Station are identical-ie £7.60 per night stern on mooring & £3.80 per night mains Electric hook-up. There is now a Loyaly card available which they stamp for you each time you stay at either location & when you have all 10 spaces on the card stamped you get the eleventh night at either location free You are right about your the B As original plan for the Electric posts, which has now changed significantly Regards Boycee
  7. Hi Johnny website address for Sutton Staithe Hotel is:- www.suttonstaithehotel.co.uk Tel No- 01692 580244 Check out the room rates & offers Boycee
  8. You could try the Sutton Staithe Hotel Johnny-not sure of the price though Boycee
  9. Some achievement that for Griff & his crew at no small personal financial cost-when I spoke to him a couple of months ago not one sponsor had come forward-hope that changed.Safe journey home guys-BRILLIANT Boycee
  10. Moored on the Common at Coltishall Sat night and went into the Rising Sun for a drink. They have done a great job with the interior decor and it was reasonably busy. The Wherry was ok but not up to Rod's standard yet. Did not eat there but the food coming from the kitchen looked well presented.Speaking to the staff the place is run by the people who run The Robin Hood in Sheringham, although there is still apparently a connection to Enterprise Inns.Hope they have a good summer as they have spent a lot of money on the place which only opened its doors again on Thursday last week. Colishall moorings were very busy-We arrived at 3pm & got the last mooring on the Common-later in the afternoon boats were double mooring or turning back to Wroxham-hope its a good omen for Coltishall-one of the nicest parts of the Broads in our opinion Boycee
  11. Excellent web-site Mark-some brilliant prints-we will seriously consider some for the house now we have decorated at last. Boycee Brian-any chance of having the "BAND SMILIE" back? Boycee
  12. Its usually towed down to Lowestoft to be done-thats one of the reasons it takes three weeks Boycee
  13. Great to have you back Gav safe & sound mate Boycee
  14. You're very welcome-well worth the investment Boycee
  15. Its simple guys-the handle(Top thick half of the Pin) moves up & down and acts as a hammer for fixing & a wrench for unfixing the pin-NO NEED FOR ANY HAMMERS OF ANY KIND Boycee
  16. Forget about rhond anchors guys-click go to this link www.echandlery.co.uk/automatic-mooring-pin-1155p.asp and there you will find details of The Automatic Mooring Pin with built in hammer for self drive & release. I bought 2 of these 10 years ago from the Brundall Bay stores which is of course now closed but have managed through trawling the net to find a supplier. They are not cheap at £27.12p each but they sure are a far better bet both for mooring security & personal safety as you drive them straight into the ground with the built in hammer & simply remove them by reversing the process. It may be you can find them cheaper from another supplier if you search for "Automatic Mooring Pins". They are an integral part of Sandpiper's mooring equipment & two of the most useful things I have ever purchased for the boat-I would not be without them & would replace immediatley if they were lost. Good Hunting Boycee
  17. Great site Carol-you must put countless hours in to produce & maintain it-I have just browsed it for nearly an hour and not touched the surface yet-Excellent Alan
  18. Good to see you again Roy-why didn't you come through and join us for a beer-it would have been good to catch up. On the same subject why didn't you come for a beer Andy as you were somewhere around on the Ant-you could have come in on Sunday & watched Man Utd wallop Liverpool with Barry & I-Mags was not best pleased as she supports Liverpool even though she comes from Stafford-a "Plastic Scouser"-and before anybody has a go at me I am a genuine "Red"-born 4 miles from Old Trafford . Anyway it was a great night & thanks again to Barry & Olive for organising it - Boycee
  19. Mags and I plus our guest will be eating Alan
  20. Del Boy & Rodders get lost so easily once they leave the confines of Peckham, thats the reason they needed the buoy to get home safeley Boycee
  21. Well done Mark-you really intend to master the "salty stuff" Alan
