Hi @YnysMon And give me a break, I did this whilst underway what do you professional results whilst travelling down the river. Eeeek! Guest
Wednesday 12th December Having arrived early this morning, I set about making a rather strong coffee and sitting enjoying just laying back and relaxing for a while. There was always the option of just laying and sleeping the day away and making up for the lack of sleep the night before, and watching the sunshine lighting the saloon it was very tempting, and after all, I am on holiday so do as you fancy, Yes??? No, never one to be able to settle, it wasn't long after my self made coffee that I was preparing my helm area and casting off the lines to head off along the river once more at 1000 hours. With time running out this week before I have to wait another couple of weeks to return for the new year I wasn't sure where I was going to go, but made the decision to head once more down the Yare towards the Waveney, purely because that was the direction the dregs of the ebbing tide were headed. I passed the usual landmarks on the main river in the sunshine, as I stuck my head out of the roof window as usual, giving my own unique brand of "singing" and I was intent on using the time I had left to the maximum and wasn't prepared to stop whilst I had daylight remaining. If anyone ever reads my wittering, you'll know I don't plan any stops or final destinations, but today I did have an idea of where I would like to try and moor whilst it was in the quiet season. Warning, invading fingers Along the way from Brundall I passed 2 boats. Well actually I passed one boat twice, once when he came steaming past me, and a second when he couldn't fit under Reedham Swing Bridge and I passed him once again After that it was off down the New Cut, always so much more pleasant in the sunshine And then a right turn to take me down the Waveney through Herringfleet and then Somerleyton Swing Bridge before venturing on towards Beccles. At around 1505 hours I reached an empty North Cove and gratefully moored up, only a slight slip on the slippery edge of the moorings nearly sent me towards the water, another reminder to always wear your lifejacket. Fortunately although I had mine on, it wasn't required as I regained my balance (gracefully of course) and tied the boat up. Once I had secured the boat it was time to head off to walk the dog, and having earned a few liquid rewards, also the pub. We walked to the Swan Inn at Barnby and had a very pleasant drink in a lovely pub. After the Swan Inn we continued our walk to The Three Horseshoes at North Cove, and I have to say I loved it. A small cosy friendly pub and so I sat and had a few good beers whilst the barmaid played with the dog, chatting away to me even though my voice was still hoarse and I couldn't really talk. Afterwards it was time to head off back to the boat along the dark lonely lanes and pathways. This is at 5:30pm approx 50m beside the A146 full of traffic with a camera flash It didnt bother me one bit, but it does cause others to cling to your arm rather tightly, which is nice, but it does restrict your movements somewhat..... If you are vulnerable, of a nervous disposition, or just can't find your way around very well at the best of times, do yourself a big favour and be back on board or moved from the mooring earlier on as it is really dark and secluded along the pathways. This one approx 400m from the North Cove moorings which are near......not a lot really, with a camera flash Just my little piece of advice to try and help. Once on board at the lovely moorings at approx 0830 it was time to settle in for some wine and general chit chat, before lights out and finally a chance to lay my (apparently) unwanted head down
SwanR
Stunning photos once again Jay. We’ve moored st North Cove as well. If I manage to get back to the southern rivers it’s high on my list of favourite places. So peaceful. Have a great day wherever it takes you. Cal
We have moored at North Cove and not realised there is a pub or two within walking distance. Maybe one to try when we are down again next year.
Guest
Just as an aside from the enthralling blog, if you wonder where the route to the pubs are that I took, (and other routes are available) Heading out from North Cove moorings you head down this track directly behind the right hand side of the mooring (looking from the river) After a short walk you'll meet the rail crossing, where the pedestrian gate is to the left (see picture) And move further on along the lane Shortly you will reach a junction Turning right leads straight to the The Three Horseshoes pub, just turn right, follow it to the end and then right (approx 30 minutes from the moorings) Look at the route map and you'll see the junction and route easily, where the return meets the outgoing part of my walk Turning left at the end near The Three Horseshoes would then lead to the Swan Inn (approx 30 mins) ... Back at the junction, turning left instead is the shorter walk to the Swan Inn (approx 30 minutes) and continues along a lane Past a house and driveway And you'll reach a farm where you will bear left And continue to follow the lane, and then around a right hand turn where you will find a white building. Turn right here after the building Well to the end to find the pub on the right Leaving the Swan Inn and continuing the way you were heading when you arrived you walk up a lane Which leads through a residential area (Barnby). Keep walking straight ahead on Swan Lane until you meet a T junction, and then turn right. Follow "The Street" all the way to the end which brings you to a footpath which you'll take (turning right before the footpath is the lane back to the moorings and where if you'd turned right at the original junction you would have come from). At the end of the footpath you took you'll find the welcoming sight of the pub From the Three Horseshoes retrace your steps back along the footpath, turn left at the end and follow the lane, turning left when you reach the junction you used originally Clear as mud? Guest
The sun hasn't quite appeared today unlike yesterday, and there is a cool breeze making the 6° feel much colder, but we are still having fun along the River Waveney

Regardless of food, if you can, have a look in and support them, it's really nice, and they have more plans in store.
