Ah, I'm forgetting that you are a prolific walker Mr Fire sir. Was the pub shut at Somerleyton?

No walking today me old matey, my mooring is now in St Olaves, hence the regular visit to the Bell when I'm around. The Dukes Head is closed till the 17th I think

.......oh and have you noted any variations to your pub opening info on the other thread?

Not as far as I've seen, basically if they have garden space they're generally open (a few exceptions obviously) as long as the weather is OK, most have installed some form of shelter too. Some that were planning on remaining closed have relented to pressure too, such as the horseshoes at North Cove

Only a week or two until the pubs can open for indoor seating however all being well, so fingers crossed 🤞

Ah, I thought you were moored near our old friend JM - that explains it. Handy having the Bell on your doorstep. I've an idea that another member moors there - sadly like a couple of our other regulars not been about recently.  Great shame. Anyway I digress. very glad you are supporting the hostelries at this difficult time and braving the weather. Keep the tales and piccies coming. :default_beerchug:

Well.....I dangled my maggot and I got a bite so just went with it Sir :default_norty:

It's lovely here though the pub just a hop away, train station a hop the other way, and amazon lockers for when you're spending cash on your money pit

I know a few people here, won't mention names, but glad I headed back darn sarf. Some of the very best things in life are darn sarf :default_wink:

Anyway, if your winter adventures bring you my way, I'd love to get you and Mrs Nog a drink in better times so anytime you fancy, giz a buzz matey

Thursday May 6th

I woke up around 0700, immediately putting the kettle on for a morning coffee. It was cold and grey outside with a warning of the rain that was about to fall, so I wrapped myself back up in the bedding with my brew and relaxed for a little while

20210506_080124.thumb.jpg.470493c95ba6c88fbb52d549ea664d73.jpg

As this was a flying visit once again I would be slowly heading back down the Yare today to return home on Friday, ready for work once more and so I was in no rush to set off at all

It was around 1045 when I did eventually fire the mighty beast back into life, a quick check I had water issuing from the exhaust and I released my lines to back away from my mooring spot and execute a 180° turn in the process, to head down the river towards Brundall

20210506_113944.thumb.jpg.2c650553b5e8a701046f5d7d3f36af2c.jpg

You can vaguely see the rain falling and the effect of the breeze on top of the water as I continued on down the Yare

20210506_120526.thumb.jpg.11d2599262446dbf8d6f90f3e93cba85.jpg

And reached Cantley. There were sporadic sightings of boats heading up the Yare as I travelled along, much more than the previous day but not as many as I had expected to be around before I had arrived

Once I'd passed through an empty Reedham and held station at the swing Bridge for 3 boats coming the other way, despite me travelling with the tidal flow, I reached the New Cut, just as the sun came out. No really, it was out...

20210506_132221.thumb.jpg.0d914bb5607e34400bba8274e686c6e4.jpg

And so down came the canopy whilst I cruised the Haddiscoe straight, before reaching my home mooring and getting the boat settled back in

After all the mornings hard graft, it was time to head over to the pub for a pint in the beer garden while the sun was shining

20210506_145345.thumb.jpg.6346d3390cee408d86a14f549bb9eef5.jpg

And just as I finished and was contemplating a second order, the heavens opened again, so I made the decision to head back to the boat once more.

After a bit of tinkering with batteries and such like, I went and sat on the bow to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine in the tranquil environment.

See the sun really was out

And I was soon joined by a friend as I relaxed

He does get a little camera shy however...

...shortly after this pic, he attempted to eat the phone out of my hand, so I stopped bothering him for selfies 😁

And as the sun set around me, it was time to head back inside for more relaxation before bedtime

Well done, you should in theory have had right of way there. We got berated by an armchair admiral a couple of years ago in the same situation.

Great photos as always :91_thumbsup:and glad you got a beer in at the Bell. :default_beerchug:

I spent this morning thinking what sort of imbecile would take their boat out in these conditions

Anyway, a nice easy one for you to guess where I've taken my boat out to in these conditions :default_norty:

Seems my night shifts are catching up on me so I've had to have a quick stop off to rest and recover before  moving on again 😇
