  1. Water level was much lower then Unless there was no other option, you jumped from midships where the deck was lower - anyway that was what you did on WR - a sister ship is in background of Griff's photo. I was 16 months old for my first trip, on an Admiral from Brooms, followed by another Admiral, Challenger ?34 (Trumans), Checkmate (Collins at Oulton) then three Ripplecraft when we went from spring weather to summer weather, followed by a Broadland Teal which father considered buying, Valentina in November from Neatishead as it was one of the only boats available in November in 1965, the WR (Delight VII) was bought.................. (Father tried the Fens out twice and the Shannon once) Liz
  2. What about down south................
  3. I fully agree, quite stunning! Almost as good as WR
  4. I want to go although it implies that Frank Southgate is still alive?http://www.edp24.co.uk/mobile/what-s-on/art_exhibition_celebrating_the_broads_to_open_later_this_month_1_3844458
  5. Yachts have a challenge to do this from day break to dusk - someone has done it but not say Geldeston but /Coltishall to Norwich New Mills
  6. Bags of flour used to be 1.5kg now 1kg, same size packaging initially! The list is continuous.............
  7. WR eat your heart out! 24 bottle wine cooler and on board WiFi system! Has a bit of wood though Enjoy though
  8. Bridge was probably open as the line was shut due to flooding?
  9. I think this is great ~ Horning = Park Lane if Wroxham =Mayfair
  10. I read the story on more than one forum so knew when I signed the petition that the key element was that the link to civilisation was under question or removal rather than the closure of the moorings but still felt the need to signl. Comparing to Womack Island is not fair as that is an island. What is interesting is that nearing everyone that has commented says that the lose of moorings in particular wild moorings is key to their concerns............
  11. There is no problem turning around, the problem this summer was serious weed! The weed blocked the intact on WR before it even reached the filter - it was a serious blockage. LBBY have banned me from taking WR up there again
  12. Does Magnor have any bulk head numbers remaining. Cleome which was Powles built still had hers and the owner(who you will know) traced the info at the Norfolk Records Centre as I did with WR and two out of the four Delights that went to Ireland in 1965 - just a thought? Liz
  13. Tofts Monks Mill on the Waveney (Haddiscoe Island) near St Olaves (Breydon side) found it on Google satellite but recognised the tree shelter belt and guessed it was on that stretch of the river
  14. I don't think the photos are taken in Wroxham, the first photo shows the sheds much clearer and they aren't the Loynes' sheds. Can't say where it is unless it was taken in the Jenner's basin at Thorpe. It is odd that two Hearts cruisers are close together?
  15. The boat in the background looks like a wooden Hearts boat - search Broadland Memories and Hearts Cruisers and their story by Vaughan Ashby
  16. I did wonder about the old Anchor pub at Coltishall but don't think there is a huge Horse Chestnut tree next to it?

    Bridge Pilots

When you ring Phoenix Fleet you get a variety of options, you then need to have your pen and pencil ready as it gives a mobile number for the pilot.
  18. Can't include a windmill but on the Waveney in 2011
  19. In the late 60s Hardley Dyke was one of our favourite southern river moorings, we would moor along the dyke on the right side but not at the end. Not another boat in sight just us moored up! However, we did break down there once on a Sunday so my Mother and I had to walk to Loddon and phone the yard looking after WR (Herbert Woods still then) and they came down the next morning. I think the engineer had trouble finding us and went to Langley Dyke first. My father like painting and he painted the view down to the end on probably more than one occasion. Liz
  20. Nice BA moorings at the end on one side and private moorings either side for the rest. When very young we would often more at Langley. The last time we moored there the wasps were dreadful! Liz
  21. Can we be very careful when replying to posts to indicate which pub you are now referring to as there are two Ferry Inns being discussed now and at least one other
