  1. I reckon you could produce that pocket sized and laminated Timbo, better get onto it quick before someone nicks the idea from you. A very useful little map.
  2. Just brilliant. I am not a cricket fan but I do love to see any English team do well in whatever sport. A game that seemed well and truly lost turned around by pure stoicism and determination, well done boys.
  3. There probably are 200 miles of ‘safe inland waterways ‘ but the 75 missing miles are not navigable by anything larger than a kayak. Or maybe a remote controlled toy cruiser. That would be my take on it anyway.
  4. That’s a step in the right direction for them, the reviews around a year or so ago were pretty dire. They clearly took on board all the criticisms, changed the name of the place and started afresh. Good for them.
  5. I don’t think I have ever read what I would really call a poor review of the White Horse so they’ve certainly got it right. The Lion at Thurne has the same owners so that would be within a reasonable distance for you by car too, I don’t know if it has the same menu though. (Google would tell us!) That makes very good sense. I do wonder about pubs with large menus, I think I would rather see a smallish but varied choice rather than ‘something of everything’.
  6. Have a good week Helen, the forecast is looking really excellent for the whole time. Enjoy and then tell us all about your first trip on Moonlight Shadow.
  7. Did the truck have any markings on it to identify it? That would be useful to know. Sounds as if it may be a local company taking advantage of Council bins.
  8. Very soon then there will be nothing left to anticipate! (Except trips to the Broads - nothing can change that. I don’t include you in that Peter, you’ll have to find something else to anticipate.)
  9. It was so close I think they should have another referendum! Clearly some responders didn’t know what they were voting for.

    Sad Sight

That would be good. I do wonder if it is better with one side unusable though. All too often most of the cut is inaccessible because one boat moored either side of the entrance blocks off the rest of it.

No - the tape was put there by the BA back in May. My understanding is that the whole of that side of the moorings is ‘tilting’. Needs a fair sum spent on it to put it right. No doubt the BA will confirm.
  12. Could well be. The moorings there do seem very shallow these days. Hope we get to find out soon!
  13. It is a lovely quiet spot and very sheltered. You only know you are close to civilisation when a train rumbles across the bridge.
  14. I don’t think the upper reaches of the Medway look anything like that!
  15. If you don’t want to know, look away now........!
  16. I’m sure it feels really nice........
  17. Looks like some of the ropes I have seen tied on posts!
  18. Nor me - they’ll be closed if there’s anything people shouldn’t see!
  19. Is that by any chance BA I can see on the HW ‘guided tour’ webcam, moored on the HW side of the river??
  20. The place to get all that gear you never really knew you needed!
  21. My sentiments entirely. I am a big fan of large windows in a boat, like marshman I don’t have a problem with curtains. Some of the newer boats appear to have large tinted windows with tiny areas that open. I can’t see the benefit in them but I may be missing something.
