    Canoes

Sadly there will always be a number of helms that do not keep to speed limits. Some because they do not care that they may be inconveniencing others and some because they just have no idea what speed they are doing and never look at their wash. The rangers have their areas to patrol and clearly can’t be everywhere at once, there are too few of them. The only thing I can suggest is that, if a boat really causes problems to canoeists or kayakers, the name of the boat and registration number is reported to the BA as soon as possible. Make sure your friends have the Broads Control telephone number 01603 756056 handy.
  3. I want to ‘like’ your post Timbo and at the same time give you a ‘sad’ face but I can’t do both! Bad news about RT’s engine but what good mates you have. Hope you manage to get the engine fixed ‘toot sweet’ so Gracie’s adventures can continue.

    Sad Sight

Where is that? A sad sight as you say.
  5. Ludham. In a garden down the road I can’t remember the name of but it is at the end of the footpath from Womack Dyke moorings. (If it’s not that one, they’ve got one just like it!)
  6. Do I detect a ‘Daniel Craig’ moment in the offing? 🤭 or 😆
  7. I was wondering where you were Cap’n and thought maybe your kayak had sunk but I guess that’s next week. Now, I have no idea why you would decide to leave the forum (I must have missed something somewhere along the line) but I am very glad you have reconsidered. How could you even think of departing before the kayak stories have been told?
  8. I like to stop in Horning but only in late October or early November! A trip to the deli is usually on my agenda. I remember one day in November a few years back, it was so mild and we moored on the 24 hour moorings. There were people sitting out in the garden of the Swan at lunchtime it was so nice. Needless to say, the rivers were quiet at the time too.
  9. As someone who has had 4/5 trips on houseboats on the River Murray, I will really envy you! They are magnificent vessels and it is a completely different world to the Broads. I love both because they are so different, sadly I think long-haul travel may be a thing of the past now so I will just have to rely on some truly wonderful memories. Don’t forget to do a write-up after your trip.
  10. A couple of the interior shots give her the look of a narrowboat - homely. A lovely looking boat, clearly good for a single-handed helm too.
  11. I was looking at their menu last week, it seems very different to what I saw last year. Seems to have gone more ‘bistro’. Has it changed hands recently does anyone know?
  12. I think it was Addicted who commented recently that hubby doesn’t eat/like fish. I looked at the menu at the Bure Cottage last week, if you do like fish then there is a superb choice of dishes (as you would expect in a fish restaurant of course!)
  13. Bet he could be - for the right price 💰💰🚤🛥
  14. The Burgh Castle car park is easy to find and it’s not far to walk to the ruins. When you reach the castle, you walk out into it with a magnificent view across the rivers to Berney Arms. It really is worth doing. Take time to look at the nearby church too, St Peter and St Paul. Well worth a look.
  15. Something to look forward to then. From the Burgh Castle ruins you get a great view right across to Berney Arms so the drone camera should catch it well. Sometimes November can be nice, you just never know.
  16. Do people expect such things? 🤔 Not having hired for 10 years I have no idea what folk look for these days, apart from forum members of course when they post.
  17. David - the walk from the Burgh Castle moorings or the Fishermen’s to the castle itself is a nice one and the views across the estuary when you get there are lovely. It would be cracking to see drone footage from above the castle, hope you can make it sometime.
  18. That’s absolutely right, I don’t know why people keep saying how great it is! Ever so narrow and weedy at the end, even a 20 footer can’t turn up there.
  19. I have to say that the ‘master cabin’ looks cramped and claustrophobic to me. Maybe it’s the way the photo has been taken?
  20. Thanks to MU’s win over Chelsea, NC have climbed up to 16th. Doesn’t look quite so bad now. Shame Liverpool couldn’t hang on to that top spot for more than 24 hours! I did hear both Alan Shearer and Ian Wright predict Liverpool for the PL title this season though. That must put the kybosh on it then.
  21. Are you sure it’s shaken, not stirred?
  22. Like it could have been Campari or Rose wine or Martini and Tonic. You weren’t to know that speedtriple doesn’t drink were you?
  23. Goodness me Cap’n, you got that wrong!
