  1. And Liverpool have dropped a place. Oh dear Cap’n, it’s going wrong already. 🤭
  2. Guess what - the Canaries have already moved up one place.
  3. Radio Norfolk this morning was quoting the BA as recommending that boats stay moored up today. Funny the BA haven’t got anything on their media pages.
  4. The only way is up!!!😄 Not a good start but then what most pundits expected. I have no doubt a lot will be learnt from that match, Carrow Road might be a different story. I can remember a game a few years back when NC beat MU at Old Trafford. Had my poor other half crying into his beer! Cap’n Jay 1 - Mrs V 0. (Doesn’t sounds quite so bad as 4 - 1.)
  5. I have answered my own question, the EDP quotes the BA as saying that ‘Breydon Water may be closed on Saturday until the worst of the weather has passed’. Not for a novice I fear! Could put them off for ever.
  6. Sounds like good advice, any mention of Breydon Water?
  7. Maybe that’s why they are erring on the side of caution, the fear of falling branches etc. Organisations do all they can to avoid compensation claims these days, it can be too expensive!
  8. Is this your first trip or have you been before? What boat will you be on?
  9. I should add there that I do enjoy a banter with you. You have a nice way of saying things.
  10. How often do we hear how dangerous this is but it is instinct that drives us to take immediate action without ever thinking about it. Hope the lady is ok (in spirit anyway) after her mishap, guess sailing will be on the back burner for a few weeks.
  11. Good morning Cap’n. I think the Canaries will need time to settle back into the PL and, joking apart, I do believe they will prove capable of good things this season. We’ll see anyway. I know what a wind-up merchant you are and that’s very often the way of people who support the top teams. I certainly won’t be disappointed if NC lose tonight, to be honest I will be amazed if they can manage a draw! I hope to be listening in later, depends where I am. Good luck to both teams. 😁
  12. I have to admit that I much prefer the browser version, I too use Safari on an iPhone and iPad. I did try the app but didn’t get on with it. I know that will bring some comments but I am an oldie so allowed to be pedantic (or old fashioned!).
  13. I’m sure Brendon is looking forward to seeing him.
  14. Last year’s arrival was against tide and wind. A helpful motor cruiser lent a hand I seem to remember. As it was a warm and sunny day no one minded the delay. New Bishop this year I believe?
  15. You’re definitely not the only one to say that!
  16. The old houseboat type thing is still half sunk in the reeds on the cut through between the Stalham and Sutton channels. As it is not strictly blocking the navigation, I suppose that will be left until it completely sinks. It really does look a mess with loads of detritus around it. The BA did move a couple of abandoned vessels either last month or in May but I guess there are ‘procedures’ to follow before action can be taken. No easy answer.

    The Locks

I like to look at a menu prior to visiting a pub but I don’t do Instagram or any other of these sites where some establishments now seem to advertise. For me, a visit to a pub is to enjoy the local beers and also to eat, so a common or garden website is handy. (Take a look at Surlingham Ferry Inn’s menu on their website. - very inviting.) If the menu above is typical of what The Locks serves, then it certainly isn’t for me. No website so I can’t see the full menu admittedly but some of the trip advisor reviews don’t make good reading at all. The Big Dog Ferry runs from Beccles to The Locks and part of their advertising suggests lunch at the pub. I wonder how many punters have been disappointed at the choice of food for a lunchtime snack.
  18. from me too. Hope you enjoy your time on the Broads.
  19. 🤭 I hope the video will be censored!
  20. This might be an opportune moment to advise that half of the Commissioners Cut moorings are taped off, all of the upstream side of the cut. They are likely to stay that way for some time as I understand the quay heading is ‘tipping’ rather badly and need substantial work. Thinking about it, it probably makes the cut more user-friendly in that probably 4/5 boats could moor on the downstream side. Usually there is a boat either side at the entrance to the cut blocking the rest off! Sorry for hi-jacking the thread Alan, just thought the info might be useful for anyone planning to moor there. Enjoying your write-up, are the rivers very busy at the moment?
  21. It was lovely taking the dogs out this morning, a cool and gentle drizzle was so refreshing. I remember staying in a hotel in Borneo a few years back. The air conditioning was soooo cold but going out on the balcony was like walking into a sauna! I really wasn’t sure where I wanted to be - inside or outside. The orangutans made my mind up for me.
  22. I wonder if it’s anything to do with the number of boats due to go out tomorrow? If boats were out on short breaks this week, Monday to Friday, but have been booked for a full week from tomorrow, there might well be a brief period of quiet tonight - if you see what I mean!
