  1. It seems we will have to wait for Tom (BA) to respond to the various questions raised. Views from the horses mouth so to speak.
  2. The alternative thread seems to be the one eliciting answers so I’m asking my questions there.
  3. But that proof must be available. It seems to me to be a case of something being said so often that it must be true. No action is likely to be forthcoming without an expert review having been taken. I think though we are (for once) actually talking along the same lines! But I might be wrong.
  4. I have asked elsewhere if there is anywhere that a true ‘expert’ report has been prepared concerning this. I suspect not, therefore the first step would surely be the preparation of a true professional review into the problem? I doubt there would be many who would object to navigation monies being spent to procure this as it could be to navigators advantage. To resolve the issue, ie raise the bridge, I suspect any costs would make it entirely untenable unless it was something simple such as dredging. That, I think, is the crux of the matter and it is not unreasonable to ask for something to be done.
  5. MM has stated in another thread that (and I think I have got this right) it has not really been established why the clearance at PH Bridge has reduced as it has over recent years. There seem to be a variety of different theories and, of course, a variety of remedies suggested. Is there anywhere that an ‘expert’ view has appeared does anyone know? This seems to be a more appropriate thread for such a discussion (politely of course).
  6. Don’t the BSS regulations relate to all Broads boats regardless of type? Someone will know I’m sure.
  7. I suppose they have included Brundall as a major centre because of the sheer number of boats moored there. I don’t know how many there are but with the number of boatyards and marinas there, there must be a heck of a lot! The only downside to Brundall is the lack of visitor moorings.
  8. You don’t seem to have many supporters on this one speedtriple!!! 😄
  9. She looks gorgeous, welcome to the forum Tina and to the world of boating. She looks like she will take it all in her stride.
  10. You wouldn’t be the only one by a long way I reckon!
  11. The magazine of the Broads Society, Harnser, has an interesting article by Paul Savage - ‘News of the Broads Authority from a different view’. This is a snippet of it which relates to the Glover Review.
  12. At the moment there is a boardwalk (wooden) that joins the Hoveton Viaduct moorings to the ‘park’ on the other side of the railway bridge. I noticed earlier this year that it was in a bad state of repair so I suppose it is something that needs attending to. It gets a fair bit of use by anyone walking from the moorings into town. Like a lot of organisations that like to impress, it sounds good after all! As Vaughan said, glib catch phrases.
  13. from me too. The boat wouldn’t be used as an excuse to use the Acle Social Club so often would it by any chance?
  14. There are so, so many of those!! Nothing to stop you asking them to move up a bit though. Your plan was a good one though, going further on. No doubt a few people moored at the common were expecting you to turn round and depart again - bet they were surprised when you didn’t and disappeared upstream. I was walking along the footpath at Fleet Dyke last week and noticed how busy it was at St Benet’s. A Herbert Woods boat was moored at the downstream end but had left two posts free at the very end. That space was occupied by two anglers, whether or not they were from the HW boat I have no idea but there were a lot of boats looking for moorings at the time. Very thoughtless.
  15. Same here. Visited earlier this week not having been there for a while. Quite disappointed as we used to get very good food there. Can’t fault the service though or the beer. Also visited Wayford Bridge Inn this year and that certainly gets my vote, good food and even treats for the dogs! The pub imo has a nice ambience and the staff very helpful and polite.
  16. I would be interested to know if anyone has ever managed to secure a ‘visitor’ mooring at Barnes. Seems to me to be a real get-out to offer 6 moorings but keep their location ‘floating’ - excuse the pun! No guarantee you’ll ever secure one if it doesn’t suit Barnes.
  17. I think what Norfolk Nog has said is very relevant. The tides are really not favourable that week and phoning the Yacht Station for guidance would certainly be the most sensible thing if you must go south. At that time of year you will find the north much quieter and you can come back again another time to cross Breydon. That’s if you need an excuse! Welcome to the forum by the way.
  18. WRC is £1.09 as of last week. Goodchild’s appeared to be £1.19 when we stopped for water on Friday.
  19. At least they were able to give a reason for it then, that must have put your minds at rest to a certain degree. A bag of crisps in future before the wine then? 😄🍷
  20. You could sew them into a bag and hang them up.
  21. How scary, glad all is well now. The beginning of Karen’s ‘episode’ reminds me of a bout of food poisoning I had last year. Did the ambulance guys have any idea as to what caused the problem? These unpleasant happenings do remind us of how fragile we all really are don’t they?
  22. Same as most of the popular moorings. Get there early or miss out. 😉
  23. Went past twice last week, empty both times (9am and 12pm).
  24. Aldeby Hall moorings are £5, nice walks from there.
