  1. I remember many years ago when I was in my early teens, I came across these boys in their late teens pike fishing in a park lake. They had caught this approx 4lb pike that had swallowed his hook aswell as the bait, and then they proceeded to cut open the pike solely so they could get their hooks. It's one of those things that you see young in life and never forget and can't believe the mentality in these kids. I just hope this was a one off and fish are caught, treated with respect and returned.
  2. The manicure costs for these people must run into thousands.
  3. If I'm a legal owner of a shotgun, I doubt an owner of a drone is going to prosecute me for shooting at his or her drone illegally surveying my property!
  4. Agreed, I was a bit harsh to the hire sector, but I do think on average the private sector would have a little more respect. The hire sector don't own the boat!
  5. I always thought the reason we have flappy's on the Broads, is because they are too tight to buy diesel!
  6. The broads traffic is starting to get no different from the roads, hit and run, drunk drivers and mooring/parking mishaps. That's why dash cams will be very popular to the private sector as the hire holiday tourist won't give a shite.
  7. So I'm assuming from this thread that if a drone flies over your property, you are legally allowed to take pop shots at it with a shot gun, air pistol, or any other legal fire arm, as I'm sure you have legal rights to above a certain height of your property!
  8. If only my job would work this way, next time this year I would be a millionaire!
  9. Personally I like to respect the river banks, moored boats, wildlife around me and while cruising for example to PH bridge or Neatishead, my engine goes to near enough slumber mode. Unfortunately for some holiday makers they have only 2 speeds, idle or full on!
  10. For me a very unusual looking woody, but at the same time quite intriguing to look at.
  11. Personally I think I might be one of the only one on the broads that love it when a boat passes by full steam ahead, with a nice rocking on the boat that is the pleasure that is being on the broads. Also at night when you get a slapping on the hull from the gentle waves is also for me a love of being on the Norfolk Broads. But I appreciate you will get a few sticklers on the broads that if their cup of tea has ripples in it because of a passing boat, then all I can say is that you need to visit a river system where you are the only one. If the BA was that much worried about wash affecting the river side, they would of done something more about it concerning boat users, but they haven't. Basically the odd boat breaking speed limits compared to the ones that don't, percentage wise it is not worth pursuing!
  12. I've seen a few fire places in my time, old and new, but that one makes me want to reach for the bucket!
  13. That just simplifies " Red sky at night, shepherds delight" and forget the rest. Lovely photo!
  14. The amount of times you mention this company in your posts, are you on a retainer or do you have shares in the company!
  15. You never ever charge for a quote or estimate for repairs unless you have diagnosed a fault. When you are in business, whether it be boat repairs, electrical or heating/plumbing(heating/plumbing mean they print their own money ) the money you charge for actual work, allows for you to cover the costs for time and fuel for quotes for work you might not get.
  16. Obviously they made it in time for last orders!
  17. Every time I see the word "Rangers" I do have an internal laugh! Whether it be park, town or the broads, I visualise a 5ft 4 person in uniform with a note book.
  18. Typical, flappies…..every stinkies nightmare!

    Sad Sight

If anyone lets a woody to get in this state to sink, I doubt very much they have any good intention to re float it. I reckon this will end up being a job for the authorities to get rid of it.
  20. Hi Griff and I am sorry to hear about the theft, and it's the last thing you need before venturing out for a well deserved break. So perhaps it's time to upgrade your security to cameras that only record movement giving you more days recording, or being alerted to movement in the shed via your phone!
  21. I think it was Fake Britain I saw recently, but people being conned into buying fake car insurance on line is on the rise thanks to their great prices, so be aware!
  22. I'm talking about some of the sunken wrecks or eyesores that you see on the broads. Also can you fill me in about the gentle nature and it's subject you're talking about?
  23. With some of these wrecks that we find on the broads, I'm surprised the owners haven't used that same word as an excuse as to why they haven't done any repairs!
  24. I do worry about our Grendel, he is listed as "Tech Team" but perhaps his tech on things is slightly outdated. He does drive a Volvo by the way!
  25. On next weeks NBN forum, how to hot wire a classic broads cruiser!
