  1. Let's just hope they don't reverse up to you, once you have fallen in if the boat is in motion, as your legs could be too close for comfort to the prop. The ladder would of been better situated to one side, which I think in a lot of boats they do.
  2. Sometimes the community can be to blame for pubs struggling, looking tired in need of a coat of paint, or simply shutting down. I know of a couple in the sticks in Suffolk that closed down and when someone wanted to turn it into a dwelling, the community were up in arms. Trouble is some of these same people never visited the pub to support it.
  3. If it's not buffering, which it seems to be at this time for me anyway.
  4. A few years ago on our last night on one of Herbert Wood's finest, we moored up at the boatyard. The fishing was great and bream was a plenty, but make sure you have some hand towels that you will never use again, and antibacterial hand wash when you are finished!
  5. You do realise that there is a rumour going around that this same bridge was done by the same boat backwards! You need to up your game Robin, but perhaps with less women and children.
  6. I reckon it was because your life insurance policy was in her bag!
  7. I owned one of these in blue and what a fantastic car it was. Although the electric aerial was a pain if you didn't keep it clean. Gave the boy racer XR3i a run for it's money!
  8. Ever since I was a kid I loved motorbikes, but now a family man my kids hate the idea of me going out on a bike. I really would love to own another motorbike even at my age, but after a friend told me of his ordeal of a car driver pulling out in front of him and my friend was in the right. The idea of spending 6 months in hospital and the offending motorist suffering horrific injuries to his insurance policy, I will keep to a car. With pot holes increasing and motorists awareness of motorcyclists ever decreasing, it's a dangerous game out there for 2 wheels.
  9. I do find it worrying to associate 2 male members on here with perfume and cosmetics. -
  10. Well in my early years of getting on to the 'Having kids' ladder, I acquired an Austin Montego Vaden plas. I think I have spelt it right. It was a lovely car to drive and very reliable, but the only thing that let it down was rust started to get the better of it. Although with a lot of British Leyland cars, they forgot about rust proofing and a simple coat of hammerite would of helped.
  11. That bottom picture does look weird, the way it is moored up in silt and has mooring lines attached.
  12. You forgot the 'mad' bit at the end. I really like wooden boats and have said this before, that I admire anyone that keeps one afloat and hopefully rot free. If I had the time, which I think labour wise is a big thing with woodies, I would like to own one as GRP doesn't come close to natural beauty on the broads. Although my Woodie would be a stinky and not one of those flappy things.
  13. If you manage to catch the duck and to anyone else that finds wild fowl that have been injured, you can take them to your local vet, but please check before you do. I came across a Mallard in the sticks that some callous driver had hit and just left her there in the middle of the road. Her wing was clearly broken and also she could only use one of her legs. I got out and moved her to the side of the road and this bloke who had got out of his car said that he had never seen someone do this before! I got a mile or so down the road and the thought of that injured duck being left to defend itself really played on my mind, so I turned around and went back to the spot to find her. She had managed to find her way into a ditch and I just about caught her before she went into the undergrowth, knowing to well she would be an easy target for foxes. I kept her overnight and tried to give her some food and water which I think she did have some, but I think she was in a lot of pain as she couldn't fold in her injured wing as it was bleeding and it looked like bone was showing. I rang my local vet in the morning to get some advice as they are the same ones that I take my dog too, and was surprised when they told me to bring her in as they do this for wild fowl found injured. She still seemed alert when I took her in, but they told me that it didn't look good as her wing was badly damaged and her leg was broken. I thought about ringing up the vets to see what had happened to her, but was hoping for the best, also that they were able to help and really didn't want to know what the outcome was. I am a bit of a soppy git when it comes to animals and have even in the past stopped my car in the road, held up 4 cars behind me, just for me to get out of my car to pick up a hedgehog to assist him to the other side of the road. The good thing about this on this occasion, was not one car beeped his or her horn!
  14. I like the crash test dummy in the background, but the Griff lookalike does look appropriate.
  15. It's nice to know I am not alone with this feeling!
  16. I'm sure a lot of these car parking enforcement firms will hope you will pay up, and that you haven't got the time or can be bothered to appeal.
  17. By the way am really liking the photo Griff, but your van looks insignificant to this wooden beauty. Back to vans though and what I remember of the Vito, they did look the biz when they came out, but time has taken it's toll. The amount of times I have seen these vans with rust taking it's toll, I do wonder if their rust proofing was the same as the Vauxhall Viva.
  18. A 3d model of Griff, this couldn't of been easy and I look forward to the finished article!
  19. Unfortunately I have seen DIY jobs concerning gas which involve gas installed hobs with plastic and copper push fit joints. At the end of the day it comes down to insurance, it doesn't matter how crap the installers are, as long as they are registered and you have your legitimate certificate, you are covered. I'm sure the likes of Griff full know what they are doing, but I am sure there are a fair few out there that think they know what they are doing, but don't.
  20. It really is looking great and the detail is fantastic. But it would be interesting to know what model figurine are you having at the helm?
  21. Well it looks like I am going to have my 5 minutes of fame, about 3 weeks ago the camera van came past just as I was about to leave for work in my van. If I had of known, I would of put a shirt and tie on.
  22. If you are worried about being intrusive, check out google maps. If you know where I live and from the comfort of your armchair, the street view will show you what my house looks like and possibly the type of cars on my driveway. The satellite will show you my back garden and possible access for undesired guests. I'm not alone in all this. I really like the web cam and it gives great views of the rivers and surrounding countryside, plus for the first time I took interest in those zig zagging flappy things that you can see in the distance on one of the views! Also since Barnes reduced the viewing shots of their webcam, it has become a bit boring and the only thing they have on offer is the air draft available under the Wroxham bridge. Which by the way the weather we are having recently, someone is going to have to get the paint brush out and get the job of marking 8ft on the marker post. Yippeee! I really don't think it intrudes on anyone's privacy and the homes in question are more likely to be holiday homes and lets face it, you get a closer view on 3 private homes that I am assuming on the Barnes webcam.
  23. The rivers and waterways of Britain can be a wonderful sight, what with nature adding their abundance of colour and sounds. Unfortunately the human side of things can bring that down with laziness and the feeling that as I'm okay, I don't care what it looks like around me while I'm on the river. So sad.
  24. I do find it amusing seeing members join and last post on the same day, and those joining just for their own means!!!!
