I love the Crystal 37 - A very cleverly-packaged boat I think, and excellent space everywhere. I'd struggle to think of a 37 foot boat with more room inside. Also, because Aquafibre liked to reuse what they already had, it's basically the Broom 37 hull with the height cut down a bit and so they handle amazingly.

This.... Most brokers will know about boats which are coming onto the market.

There'll be no problem getting Pacific Princess through Ludham bridge. Richardson's have Contessa - which is also an Aquafibre Crystal 37 - based at Stalham and she goes through just fine. I've taken her through myself, from upstairs.

I do like the new 'Diamond' 39 in terms of the extra space and the engine being out the back where it's quieter, but the original helm station was an excellent piece of design and it's a shame that was lost. It wasn't needed to house an engine but nor was it on the 43's and it worked well there.

I'll PM you Carol, but I suspect Broadland Memories is probably a fairly easy one to sort. If we could get the hosting account transferred to someone else then that's an option but I don't know how easily they will allow that to happen. I must admit I'm not that familiar with what the process would be there as it's not a scenario we commonly see in business. There has been a fair bit of discussion behind the scenes on this one but I see three possible ways of moving things forward with regards to the database. Two of them require getting access to the database, and the third does not. In terms of hosting, my preferred option would be to spin up an AWS instance to run any sites which NBN takes under its wing. I don't have traffic forecasts, obviously, but I have a much better idea than most of what these sites cost to run.

No, it's quite an undertaking in that respect and I think in reality it would need to change more towards a model of people submitting photos and then having content review for changes. The immediate challenge is keeping it going.

It can take a week or more for the browser cache to clear, so I'd definitely suggest that anyone who is having problems (and anyone that's not as well) clears their cache because of the update.

I watched the first episode of Discovery a while back and didn't really know what I was watching... Throwing JJ Abrams at things doesn't necessarily improve them and I think Star Trek have proven that over the last ten years. Picard looks like a return to form for the franchise and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

I can't figure that one out... I'd have thought it was one of the better roundabouts but it does like to collect cars. I'd say the Wroxham Rd roundabout is probably the worst, and really it should have been a flyover like on the Cromer Rd.

I think that's a big part of it. The Salhouse meet has always been popular as it's a pretty spot and not far from any of the major hire bases, particularly given that people know there's a mooring waiting for them. Of course the meets aren't just attended by hirers, but without them the numbers dwindle a bit and that in turn tends to mean less privateers sign up.

Yep. There were four distinct banks previously, but it was simplified down to three when the rewire (and new argofet etc) was done. I'm not sure about the windlass, it may be on the domestics.

Yep, we had the thruster on Thunder moved onto the starter battery (as per the recommendation of the sparky). As others have said, it pulls a lot of current but you use it for a matter of seconds a day and rarely when the engine isn't running. The starter battery usually has priority for charging, but if the thruster goes on the domestics ('house' is a US term) then it's - theoretically at least - yet another thing to pull a load out of that bank. Domestics and starters are not always the same battery type, either.

It won't be pretty. Immersion in river water does not do the interior any good. Most hire cruisers that have been under tend to get at least a partial refit as the laminates will be done for.

Any boat which has a setup other than the straightforward single diesel on a conventional shaft is going to be more troublesome and costly to maintain. Converting from twins to a single engine with dual props on hydraulics (which has been done on some Bounty Travellers as well) is not going to be cheap and if going for a new engine at the same time I think is likely to cost a similar amount of money to the boat. A think a nice beamy Broads cruiser will give you a lot more space and a lot less trouble. If you like bathtubs as much as I don't then that may rule out the likes of a Bounty 28, Horizon 35 and the like. I'm not the biggest fan of Alphacraft's build quality, but as others have said the Alpha 35 c/c is a very spacious boat and they're usually shaft drive. And then of course there were the bathtubs starting at 29(?) feet. They are all quite good boats though, are designed for the system, and pretty much any yard will be able to work competently on them. There used to be a Facebook login option on the forum, but that would just create a profile on what we refer to as 'the NBN platform' which would be subject to the same rules about having enough qualifying posts. Because tech giants like Facebook are forever changing the technical details of how such integration works, we dropped it as a login option quite a while ago as it just wasn't worth the effort of maintaining it from our side. Our Facebook presence remains entirely separate from the NBN platform (the forum and mobile app) and the only common factor is the team who manage them.

Well I quite liked the Swallows and Amazons film, though I admit I know pretty much zero about the books. I think part of the charm is that I view the Lake District a little bit like many on here view the Broads - somewhere special that I manage to get to only once or twice a year - and so it's always nice to see it in film or photos.
