  1. Hi Mark, We went to a wedding last Saturday evening at Kelham Island in Sheffield, the museum was opened for wedding guests to look around, in the Ken Hawley Collection are various trade samples on display, one being a very large King Dick spanner. http://www.hawleytoolcollection.com/ When I first started work I stamped my initials on all of my tools or put on them file marks, none of this supplied tools back in those days, you bought your own or made them. Regards Alan
  2. I still have Whitworth, AF, BSF and BA spanners in my toolbox Regards Alan
  3. Hi Mark, I can tell from your pictures you are about 4 or 5 berths nearer to the river than us. When we fitted our upper helm radio we also wrapped our two upper helm dashboards with a similar wrap to yours, not too hard a job, our had studs on them that removed the nuts from at the back of the upper helm. With yours I suggest that you use the older mirror fixing screws that had a threaded hole in the center and the threaded chrome covers that went over the screw. Regards Alan
  4. Hi Trev, A couple of years ago I used a four inch hole saw on our upper helm to fit two speakers for our upper helm radio. When ever I have to drill holes in the boat I am always wary, especially on something that big. Loads of measuring and re- measuring. Regards Alan

  14. Sadly Poppy all banks are tarred with the same brush you will get very similar responses from other banks, security gets in the way of the account holders but does little to make their systems secure. It's 2017 and one of the banking security questions is still "whats your mothers maiden name" I ask you! so easy to find out once someones got your details. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Grendel, You could use some of the waxed whipping chord, you can get it in two shades of blue and there is a white option, no doubt that it will be a pain to splice what ever you use and you would have to make a suitable sized fid. Regards Alan

  22. Hi Bill, I would try an iron on a small section to see it will melt the glue enough to lift it up. If it works out OK tackle the glue left with scrapers and solutions like Nitromors assuming it is fitted to boards and not fiberglass, or maybe stickystuff remover. Regards Alan
  23. Lets face it John we only know if any of our insurance companies cuts the mustard when they have paid out in full following a successful claim. Regards Alan
