  1. I am sure a number of you we have had this update from Sue Hines this morning. Regards Alan Hoveton Great Broad Petition update Sue Hines Acle, United Kingdom 15 Nov 2015 — Despite the email with the details of the Petition having been sent to the Rt Hon John Whittingdale OBE MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport on 3 November, no response or acknowledgement has been received. The email has been re-sent to Mr Whittingdale on 13 November and a local MP has also asked Mr Whittingdale for a copy of his response. We remain hopeful .....

  5. The waterways be they the Broads, Canals, Rivers or Coastal, a small boat, cruiser, day boat in the end we only get out of it the amount of commitment and enjoyment we put into it. We love our times on the Broads, down on Friday for the weekend. Regards Alan
  6. Sadly not the case Ian, but I will be on my blocks shortly. Regards Alan
  7. Hi Robin, You can not get the staff these days, "quite good" I ask you. Regards Alan
  8. More life Jackets in last nights program. How does an hour long program seem to last only a few minutes. The canal and the broad waterways featured were almost like sections of Broads or the lochs in Scotland. We have not used electric operated locks but have operated a few road bridges, most in the UK operate using the BWB key. A great program to watch, we are looking forwards to next weeks episode. Regards Alan
  9. Hello Robin, Thank you for posting your full guide it is appreciated. Regards Alan

  13. Last year we removed all the curtains, cushions, shower curtains and all the bedding. We left all cupboards and doors open. We covered the seating with dust sheets (old bed sheets etc) all items such as the TV loose items were removed so nothing was on show. We refilled all the moisture traps at the shutdown of the boat, this varies because we allow our fellow owners to rent the boat during our closed season. Regards Alan
  14. Hi Grace the problem with insurance is in most cases there is an access and you weigh up is it worth claiming? We may have to have both zipped out sections replaced in the aft part of the canopy to make it look a better match The last time we bought a new canopy (2010) it was a little over £2200.00 for the canvas canopy made to fit our frames. This was the boats second canopy since its launch in 2001. Regards Alan
  15. Hi Strowager, Like yourself we have used Paypal and Ebay for years, likewise the least number of people that know any of your banking/credit card details the better. Paypal can sort out most issues when a problem arises but at times the account can be frozen whilst this happens. We have only been caught out once with a Paypal purchase from the USA, the company stopped trading using Paypal, because of this Paypal could not claim off of this company so we were not refunded for our payment. There are loads of scams out there at the moment and the nearer it get to Christmas the worse it will get. Regards Alan
  16. Hi Grace, Thank you for your concern, I assume that it may have sunk. I had a call yesterday morning from one of my fellow owners, I told him to stow the upper helm seats cushions and rail backrests below. Any water on the upper helm just runs off. I contacted Jeckells who are coming down to the boat on Monday to measure up on the section that is missing to offer a solution. Regards Alan
  17. Hi Monica, Rather than it gathering dust, why not put an advert on the for sale and wanted section on the forum. Someone else might as well get the benefit of one of these. Regards Alan
  18. Hi Iain, It's just a question of balance Regards alan

  20. One of our owners on the boat this week has lost a section of our canopy that was blown overboard this morning on their way to or from the Broom's fuel station at Brundall. If anyone happens upon this section of our canopy and retrieves it can they let me know. Regards Alan

  22. I must check out the expiry date on our auto life jackets at the start of the season in 2016, I know they are up for renewal in 2016, the last kits we bought were from Brian Ward's very easy to fit. Regards Alan
  23. When ever I hear Neil Warnock's name mentioned all I can think about was all of the children he bullied on our estate in 1960's and the early 70's. Regards Alan
  24. Hi Iain, Many thanks for posting the pictures. Regards Alan
  25. Hi Gramps, When we ventured to walk up to the Post Office at Rockland St Mary, I was glad of the fact that they were still serving coffee and sat outside in the sunshine, mind you that was early September , after a rest we plodded back down the hill to the staithe. It was a tidy walk even for Norfolk. Regards Alan
