  1. Completely agree, however, as most would tell you, the chap at Horsey is always as polite a gentleman as one could hope to meet and ever helpful. There's no comparison.
  2. PW, Whilst the post was somewhat tongue in cheek, I have to admit that my beef would not be with the parish council, but the self appointed jobsworth who has taken it upon himself to show an unfriendly attitude to the bread and butter providing holiday makers. His sort can leave a very sour taste in the mouths of those trying to enjoy themselves. As they would say in Essex... "Two hours overstay? Leave it out!!!"
  3. By the sound of it, it would be worth going from the Irstead parish mooring to the BA mooring and back for a couple of days or so, just to wind up the self appointed Harbour Master, perhaps even two boats permanently swapping over.
  4. As I keep saying Ray, we get our jollies where we can, but you be careful with your razor sharp macerator. Harm can come to a fellow with one of those.
  5. You don't know my cooking Ray, nor does your macerator!
  6. Sorry Dnks, I have no idea what make it is. All I can say is that the opening to the tank is like a section of a sphere, you can see into the holding tank when it's open. Does that help? Ray, I've never paid that much for one before !! (but then again, I don't live in Basildon)
  7. Pity, I need a new bowl for the loo on Nyx, the existing one has a hairline crack which opens up very slightly when one sits on it causing a slight leak. Those bowls seem to be bloody expensive!!
  8. OK MM, I will rise to that one. I know of nothing that has been banned or modified in the name of "Sandford" . It (Sandford) isn't the name under which anything is done. It is done in the name of "Conservation" Sandford is the principal under which conservation can be upgraded to be the overriding factor. Unless that is, you can demonstrate otherwise.
  9. I don't believe this!!! Yes we know what the situation IS. Dr Packman knows what the situation IS, Defra knows what the situation IS. Where the problem lies is "Who wants the situation to be something else in the future?" Now, at the risk of irritating Marshman (other members with his views are available), I freely admit that I agree with Peter W, in that this ambition is still on the doctor's mind, and that he will use whatever methods he can to achieve this. If the whole world (apart from us) thinks the Broads is already a National Park, and have little or no knowledge of the ramifications of it becoming one, then how difficult would it be for the Broads Act to be repealed, especially if the nation is thinking about something 'more important' like Brexit for example? I fully accept that becoming a National Park will not necessarily mean the end of navigation rights but I too believe it is a distinct possibility that navigational restrictions will come in, lead by the RSPB. Are we attributing too much power to the Doctor? Maybe, but as is often said, "it is better to weigh the opposition greater that it is." When the Dr Packman retires, there is nothing to say that this ambition will not be carried by any future leader of the BA. The 'National Park' issue must never be forgotten nor those 'banging on' about it become complacent.
  10. You might try a cheese and bacon open pie... though that sounds more like a flan
  11. Oh come along Grendel, one mustn't let irrelevant facts like that derail a good story
  12. I dug my necessities out once, I couldn't sit down for weeks.
  13. A first class idea in my opinion.
  14. Well thank you sooo much Mandy Barnes. I have been trying to support my sister and can see EXACTLY where you are coming from. That was a fantastic piece of writing.
  15. Hiya CC, we met a few years ago at Sutton Staithe. I too use Nav & Gen for insurance, they get my vote. Welcome to the forum.
  16. Surely he'd have had his wife do that before she carried out the barbeque.
  17. Ok, now I make myself really unpopular here. Incontinent elderly people, Babies who can be sick at the drop of a hat, Kids who run in and out of boats with heavens knows what on their feet, and numerous other unpleasant situations are all allowed to sit on/lie on/clamber over the upholstery. but should a house trained pooch dare to leave so much as a couple of hairs on board then all hell breaks loose. Fifty years boating experience has shown me that people make more mess than dogs. I've never yet met a dog that smokes, that lets fishing maggots escape, or that spills it's beer and although smokers, anglers and drinkers are all welcome aboard my boat, their dogs are even more welcome. For the hire fleets I understand that there is a charge for bringing a dog on the boat, this covers the ADDITIONAL mess that's involved. They don't charge much, but then maybe the dogs don't make as much mess as the hirers. PS, I've never seen a dog light a barbeque anywhere other than where they should light it.
  18. Hmmm, piano wire strikes a bit of a chord with me.
  19. I've been committed many times, It never helps nuffin.
  20. Hi Carol and welcome. I would really like to fly the NBN burgee, but don't have a mast. Also given that I'm a solo boater, I can't have a mast that means leaving the helm to put it up/down for bridges. Finally I can't have anything that increases my airdraft as I'm moored on the Hickling side of Potter Heigham. Suggestions please
  21. Thank you Hot Fuzz, Keeping people updated on these things does encourage vigilance for this and other (perhaps more important) issues. Illegal activity is illegal activity. If a person thinks the law is wrong then get the law changed by legal means, not by breaking it. I know there will be those who do not hold this opinion.... but I do!
