  1. How are things going at Ebridge Lock? See photo. The west wing wall is re-pointed. The shuttering is in ready for a concrete pour tomorrow. The brickwork repairs are well under way. The Stop Plank Grooves are in place, Finally, the Stop Planks are ready to collect from the manufacturers. Unashamedly pinched from their FB group Griff
  2. Nice one Simon and Mary, very good of you Erm, any chance of a similar deal on diesel? Griff
  3. Thanks JA, very good of you once again. We are looking forward to the whole weekend We are also looking forward nearly as much to emptying our wet shed locker of all manner of surplus boaty stuff. It'll probably completely fill up our Fwd Port cabin taking it with us, we need to get rid of it at the boat jumble whilst resisting the temptation to replace it with yet more boaty stuff and taking it back with us! Griff
  4. How about whoever does it doesn’t use the university challenge quiz book Griff
  5. And that’s a hammer squarely on the nail Martin. The weekly quiz for me hasn’t been fun for ages now which is why I no longer participate not being a member of Mensa Griff
  6. That's me secured tickets for the Vue cinema tomorrow. Myself and MrsG going to see 'Rocket Man' Griff
  7. A true Legend. Whether an F1 fan or not, the film 'Rush' is well worth seeing Griff
  8. bad eggs provided! Preferably hard boiled with shells still on Griff
  9. We woz at it yet again last Friday, had to change a couple of team members of 'Griff's Growlers' hence we scored much lower this time but still had a great day out. This time at Lambton Castle. Another team competition clay shoot. 7 x stands, 700 targets. I used 400 cartridges this time. Stopped off at the Ryther Arms for a team dinner on the way home, another 16 x hour day out. That's them done with for this year. A full year looking forward to them and they are over in a flash it seems. Oh well, back to my local small shooting ground come this Sunday as per the norm Griff
  10. The scroat's that did it need stringing Agreed, but only after a public birching, that after a day in the village stocks Griff
  11. More pics to follow There better had be - It's the Law Griff
  12. Simon & Sonia + Dylan the dog & Red the pup. Now I'm even more miffed we wasn't there Griff
  13. Is it ok to ask the hire company for an additional mud weight.? It most certainly is and we do every time Griff
  14. I was last out cruising the rivers enjoying them and ''B.A' on 13th OCTOBER 2018, the last day of the lads week. It is now 20th May 2019. By my reckoning that is now over 6 months. SIX months! Now when one owns a boat (Well - Part thereof to be precise) and has the use of her 24 x 7 x 365, six months is plain and simple W A A A A A A Y too long. Yes of course I have been onboard since October but those visits have been upgrade / maintenance weekends. Then there was a ten day visit to Sutton staithe for her bi-annual AMP, spent all of 40 mins transiting her there and back to the wetshed on that one. However June 7th - that'll change. Four days afloat with MrsG, Son, his new partner (Just wait till you see her lads, proper stunner and top class deck totty) and hopefully at least one grandson, plus one if not two dogs. I intend to get 'B.A' out of the wetshed that fast after boarding we will probably still be plugged into shore power, wonder if I can get 10mph whilst still in the wetshed? No idea where we will be visiting / staying overnight, nor do I care. Counting down the days then once again Griff
  15. Barton Broad outside of the marked channel is also a favourite of ours to mudweight as well as the two afore mentioned locations. Hickling is also another favourite - Assuming you can get under 'That' bridge On 'B.A' we have a secondary mudweight. I deploy this off the aft end if fishing or wanting the tv on as you say it stops the swinging about, however make sure the bow is into wind on the fwd mudweight before deploying the aft mudweight and if staying overnight keep an eye on the forecast for wind direction change. If it is due to change direction, in itself not too much of a problem but if picking up in strength then lift the aft one up before lights out. When we hire the 3 x Jewel of lights from H.W's they always give us a second mudweight too Griff
  16. I’ve had the privilege of sampling the fayres offered from the galley in Malanka before now. Legendary is a good description Griff
  17. No idea - I guess only an accountant could work that out!!! More as likely in the favour of whom the accountant is being employed by no doubt Griff
  18. If they didn't go spending £35k on signs that tell lies, God knows how much on the Acle towers folly - some of that money could be used to sort out above PHB a whole lot earlier and to a higher standard Griff
  19. Here’s wishing all forumites a great gathering. Sorry ‘B.A’ won’t be there. Hopefully next time Griff
  20. I've seen quite a few of em, regular too. However I will never manage a photo of your quality - Well done (Not jealous - Much) I saw two Bitterns year before last I think it was. I had been waiting 57 years to see 'My' first one then saw two in as many weeks. No chance of getting a photo though. The second one was flying alongside us as we cruised down river past Thurne Mill - I could almost not believe it Griff
  21. We purchased a new replacement tv for our conservatory. I wanted to settle down and watch the play offs on it. Only I couldn't No Leeds Griff
  22. I was walking Macie dog t'other night in our local park (Plenty of poop bags as normal) when I came across THREE Liverpool fans playing football with a hedgehog. I was outraged, just about to phone the RSPCA when The Hedgehog went 1-0 up Griff
  23. Great write up thanks for sharing and valid points. I agree with all of them Griff
