  1. Well done indeed. That's why I joined an make a small direct debit payment each month. You never know when your turn will come....
  2. Hmmm, don't think I'll be trying to squeeze Secret Lady under there anytime soon. At 11'10" with radar folede, opportunities are few and far between.
  3. We saw that yesterday too Ian. Quite a sorry sight, but a very old looking boat.
  4. Tut, Tut Clive.... you naughty chap. By the way, I saw your new craft out and about on the river in Reedham last weekend. First time I've seen her in the flesh and I reckon she looks great! Too many of the modern designs are just that - too modern. She seems to be bang up to date and sleak looking, but still have the lines of a proper broads cruiser. Well done to all concerned!
  5. I may be a bit cynical, Paul, but I suspect you would have had a different attitiude from the yards had your boat been GRP not wood. All of the yards are dab hands at quick GRP repairs (they get plenty of practise!) but I bet not one of them has the sort of skills needed to repair your ship....
  6. Blimey, that was a good fit! I thought his head was going to be knocked off too!

    Broad Ambition

Do hope this strong wind we are having isn't making it too lumpy for them!
  8. Indeed, Namaste was owned by a couple until they just traded her in for my previous boat, Serenity! Serenity is also taking up new moorings practically next door to us at the weekend too! Talk about a small world around here
  9. Hi Lori I know when I was registered with the Hoveton surgery, they were very used to holiday makers visiting them being in a tourist area. Just a pity the surgery is such a long walk from the river!
  10. Fantastic achievement for Griff and the guys. I know he was a bit nervous of it when I met him in Newark earlier in the year. We popped up to Sheringham yesterday evening, and the sea was absolutely glassy, so perfect for BA! Fingers crossed for a safe return trip for them.
  11. How is the depth along the dyke from Rockland Broad to the staither these days Trevor? Last time I went down there I grounded twice (that was in my old bathtub!)
  12. Sad news indeed. He was one of the "faces" of the Broads.
  13. If Womack is busy, you could always head down to Acle. Loads of moorings along the riverbank, and the Bridge Inn has a large car park too.
  14. All the BA information centres will have them.
  15. Thats exactly what I was going to say Strowy. Just hold the lens and look through it Jill, then turn it 90 degrees. If that has no effect, then it ain't a polariser. If it does, then pop it back on the camera and play some more
  16. We were delayed by the Estuary Elan a few weeks back when coming back up from St Kats into Yarmouth. They were a bit late so we had to wait an extra hour for the booked bridge lift. Certainly a very striking design with, and quite menacing when it's behind you with that razor sharp bow. She went like the clappers over Breydon, but we couldn't keep up with her due to having blown an engine on the trip
  17. I didn't think they'd let anyone inexperienced on such a beast! Boating somewhere abroad has always been on my list, and it does look stunning. I'll have to save that for a special occassion I think!
  18. That's not good news at all. They supply huge amounts of very varied gear.
  19. Wow, what a trip Perry. I have never visited the states, but I think I have just added another item to my "bucket" list!! Did you have to prove any formal training in order to book the charter?
  20. Engine numbers aren't registered with the BA are they?
  21. I even remember Blue Peter doing an article about CB in america! The worst thing is though, I can't even remember what my handle was...... I might try asking 1-4 for a copy next time when entering Lowestoft just by way of reminiscing though!

    needing advice

I don't think you'd have any problem getting under Trowse rail bridge Jonny. Plenty of hireboats get into Norwich, and we took Serenity up there a couple of times last year with no problem. Once under Trowse, you could drop your uncle off at Morrisons as it's only a couple of mins walk to the station from there.
  23. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me We were on our way to Lowestoft via Oulton Broad a couple of weeks ago, on the stretch of Waveney between Somerleyton Bridge and Oulton Dyke, when a bird flew past us no more than 20 feet away just above the reeds. It took a second or two to realise that it was infact a Bittern! Having cruised the broads for years, this is the first time I have ever been lucky enough to spot one of these rare and illusive birds. It's nice to know they are around! Anyone else spotted one?
  24. The professional level of finishes you get never cease to amaze me Paul. Well done!
  25. I can't see them either Gav. What's occurring?
