Just home from my son's home where we have spent a few days helping out around the time of the birth of my new grandson and hopefully crewman eventually.

Dylan John was born on Tuesday, at a very healthy 7lb 9oz, mother and baby doing well. I'm ecstatic!

It is always a pity to me, you cannot have grandchildren before children.

With grandchildren you can really enjoy getting them over excited then handing them back to the parents.

Congrats Poppy - Cracking photo.  I'm a grandad of seven weeks or so now and proper chuffed, however I have to admit I'm not really a 'Baby' type person but am much looking forward to years 2+ and upwards

I wouldn't be too sure of that! Dry fly on an exclusive beat on the River Test ,or several thousand for just one fishing pole, can stretch the budget more than a little!

Congrats Poppy - we have three grandchildren aged 18, 13 and 3- wouldnt be without them- all able crew members of Sandpiper although the little guy is still learning
