My brother had a 2.2 litre Firenza sport with twin carbs. For the time it was frighteningly rapid and I was always relieved to survive the journeys! Lovely looking coupe though and was marvelled at because it had six or seven dials on the dash!

The one thing I lament the loss of, artery's allowing, is proper fried bread! Fried in the bacon fat and then the egg on top of that! Afraid toast is not the same at all.

Also I am sure Sonia opened for beakfasts last year at Surlingham. I would be surprised if this didn't happen this year as well.

I used to love it when all bangers leaked at each end resulting in a lovely crunchy lump on both ends!

As I recall, it was up for sale for quite some time at a hefty price. What many are avoiding is the effect this sort of seasonal business has on the local community. I have already pointed out that a Post Office/general store that existed previously sited further into the village was likely forced to close because of the six months of the year that this shop was open and deprived the P.O. of trade at the busiest time of the year. However, I will always wish those retiring best wishes and a happy retirement. Just the circumstances that grate with me.

Ditto, when I took my Octavia for a front indicator bulb they said they had to remove the whole front bumper assembly and that labour was chargeable! I bought just the bulb and had a quick look at the handbook and discovered a lever that clearly Halfords were unaware of that allowed the whole lighting unit to slide out and replacement of the bulb was a doddle!

Shame about the loss of the post office as it also sold other daily needs. However, good news to see this open.

Reflects my own feelings on this. I can remember when there was a Post Office/Store further into the village, way across the other side of the green. I used to purposely use this as this was the village shop and not an establishment that opened for 6 months of the year. I actually talked to the folk in this Post Office about this very subject and, even then, they feared that they would not survive because of the loss of trade in those months. How true this was. Now there is nothing.

Even though it was only open for six months of the year?? Something tells me that this six months were not to serve the residents of the village! Sorry, but I do get a bee in my bonnet with this sort of exploitation.
