  1. Oh how really sad. I liked him immensely as a friend I never met. He will be missed here and even more by his loved ones. Prayers and condolences. I too would contribute to a Forum tribute, flowers or donation as the family chooses.
  2. Might not mean anything, LBBY once had a diesel tank with Doncaster on it, or was that the pump out? Griff?
  3. You can't get the elves these days!
  4. Small boats....hmm. That reminds me of an occasion when we looked at a Corribee with a view to purchase. Tiny and great sailies, Ellen Mc Arthur's first boat was a Corribee, but with an upswept stern, even less of its length of some 15ft was in the water at moorings. We had already been aboard and noticed its trampoline qualities before the salesman turned up. He stood on the quayside as we went aboard again. 'A very stable little boat' he remarked. Yes it is while you are holding the mast,' was my reply. He was quite unembarassed, we didn't buy.
  5. Got fed up with PC at last and got a Mac Book Air for my business, I am still gently 'moving in'.
  6. I never infer, nasty habit! Actually, everything is relative and 'sound mind' could be 'soundly bonkers' after all..... My poor prose! 'You' in the context of that post meant 'you lot' rather than picking on Tim, who is a sorted, if 'interesting' person! If one were Royal one would have said 'one' rather than 'you lot', but as one is common .....
  7. I used to have a cleaner, I still want one! There was nothing nicer than coming in and the house elf had been and magic had sorted everything out, can't really justify one now.....
  8. I'd second that Gracie, these are good people. Yes, being where you are Tim, is very hard indeed. I have tried to protect my loved ones when it comes to it by making my wishes clear now, so that those hard choices have already been made by me, not them. On hard subjects....if you haven't made a power of attorney DO ONE ! No matter what age, life can throw us and LPAs help you to be helped. We have had endless aggro because my friend with dementia didn't do one and became unable to make rational choices, helping her was 300% more difficult. Just saying....
  9. Thinking of you Tim, we just went through a long and difficult time with a friend suffering dementia and trying to get the hospital to listen to other issues. It wasn't happy. Having said that, though, there were some lovely people doing their best in the circumstances.

Beyouuutiful! Thanks for all the hard work, love it!!! (Especially February) very happy here!
  11. I find Karen OTT too, but she does know her trade.
  12. Judge to replace Len? Well Karen Hardy is an established international judge and we all love Anton so let's have five judges.
  13. I am planning to cover the mast of Briiliant with rhinestones and sew godets into the sails. Glitter ball fend-offs to complete the look.... Da da-da da da da daaaaaa
  14. They are not the most inspiring cohort are they?
  15. Thanks guys, she was a very happy, very clever little cat.
  16. Sadly, Cleo reached the end today, there was a really sudden deterioration in her condition so we got her to the vet within 10 minutes. Fortunately her regular vet was on and he was able to help her to go peacefully, with her head cupped in my hand. We will really miss her. Here she was on board Brilliant.
  17. Ranworth Dam is usually busy so overtaking would be awkward generally. I think motor boats legitimately overtake tacking sailies, most of us have a donkey so could go in a straight line if worried about mooring. Hunters can fit into the dinghy dyke anyway so their lack of engine isn't a problem either.
  18. We had pulpit and pushpin rails on Rondonay, the pushpit was a real nuisance when stern mooring, but the pulpit proved a joy when the South Walsham swallows used it for a breakfast time launch pad , muttering to each other as they paused between insect catching flights- priceless!
  19. Agreed, being low and with canvas sides , our cockpit is vulnerable to exhausts from boats on moorings, it's pretty scary. Do I knock on the hull next door? Not usually, being British has its drawbacks! We avoid mooring next to others quite a lot. Noisy halyards? Bad sailing in my view, it's easy to prevent the 'tingling, and antisocial not to do so. However this is annoying rather than downright dangerous as in the case of exhausts.
  20. No I don't think Marshman meant that, he made a generalised comment which has some validity. Where the problems occur is if the 'new brooms' are slow to understand the brief, that can be damaging.

    Sailing

Well we can't all have a Wherry to play with.
  22. I am not naming this company as they are usually top notch, but one current transaction is a classic! Parcel delivered to Kent for Grandson left in a puddle, contents damaged. I called for a replacement, operator has had ear bypass. 15 minutes of repeating everything three times. I want replacement delivered here and recalled item collected here, as my daughter is bringing item from Kent. No not in original packing, it was wet, NO not in original packing, NO NOT in original packing....... No not Wednesday, no not Wednesday, NO not Wednesday, Thursday please, HERE not Kent OK? Thanks. Hang up and lie in darkened room. I have been patient and polite BTW Replaced item delivered to same puddle in Kent Wednesday. Go figure! I await collection here today, Thursday of damaged item.
