  1. Support for you Robin, and your mum, what a nightmare!
  2. Wot I said...bet it was the quay heading. And yes, Horning can be tricky especially single handed.
  3. Bromide in the drinking water was a solution I favoured for one dire estate where I taught in the 70s
  4. Nowt wrong wi' them shutters.
  5. Paladin I think the post, whilst critical, was scarely meant to be taken as seriously as that! Robin didn't need flaming, just telling to get his act going earlier, but there were good reasons why he didn't if you check other threads.
  6. I would have thought it was grinding against the quay heading?
  7. My dad used it for 'dosing' wasp nests so that he could harvest the grubs for fishing bait.
  8. Did he make the cover? Bleach can be the kiss of death to some sewing yarns. If he made it then go ahead otherwise test an area?
  9. Would the TFR do tree sap, Stuart?
  10. Absolutely ! We had one memorable conversation with paramedics at 3am who had been called out to our rather random friend 120miles away. 'Does she normally answer straight questions?' 'No, she hasn't in the 30 years I have known her, just go on your stats.'
  11. I made one for Brilliant, mainly in respect of stern mooring with an outboard in the way. A sturdy old shelf from the shed, I drilled holes for some braid, added more varnish and a sprinkling of Budgie grit for non slip. Sorted.
  12. Red sock left green sock right?
  13. I am with MM on this, and see the Irish situation and the current one as sectarian , even tribal.
  14. I have to be conscious of two things, one is sincerest grief for the victims, and two is that I must not allow my anger to turn to hate, because that is exactly what those who plan these outrages want. So I am with Siddiq Khan, we will not be cowed by terrorists.
  15. Very sorry to hear of your loss, Robin. I just went through the papers etc of a recently deceased friend, it's emotionally exhausting and a heavy burden, and she wasn't a parent. Sympathy.
  16. I think you should feature Vaughan, Wussername and Jenny Morgan as the NBN answer to the Beverly Sisters
  17. Well I liked it very much as far as it went, and I accept that this was about the social link and not the location. However, the inclusion of maybe one Broads sunset would have explained much of the appeal of the location that is the genesis of the forum? Where is this expected to get the most views and what is the target audience? Thanks for putting the work in Robin
  18. What is already on it? I was told at some distant past moment, (2 years ago) that International and Blakes don't go over each other happily. On our little boarding plank. I mixed some silver sand into the last coat of varnish, works a treat but I don't know that I would risk it on a precious deck. Sandtex, yes we tried it. It is awful to keep clean, we moor under an oak tree and I will be repainting the lower decks because they look filthy. Cabin top, protected by a (ruined ) cover are daisy fresh. I am finishing a replacement cover ASAP so my only problem now is how to protect it from the flipping tree sap.grrr
