  1. well i have mild for the lower two tones and medium for the high pitch, but then thats to be expected with tinitus
  2. scored very poorly until i realised the sound was coming through my speakers rather than the headphones, and that they were in fact muffling it.
  3. well this year looks like my year for rain on my holidays, if it keeps up like this i will have to rethink my trip through potter heigham bridge (or use the pilot) I see the water level at repps has risen 4" since yesterday
  4. I can vouch for the weed on horsey mere, I went around the edge of it last year and spent more time in reverse trying to clear the weeds out of the prop than I did going forward, its nasty stuff, grabs you and doesnt want to let go. the fact the water is fairly clear and you can see it doesnt seem to make a lot of difference.
  5. to my knowledge the depth is pretty consistent with a few shallow parts, but the important fact is that weed cutting only takes place on the marked channel. there are links here- https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/navigating-the-broads/water-depths to depth maps of all the broads, be aware that some parts of hickling outside the marked channel were last surveyed back in 2014.
  6. and the ones who light them on the wooden quay heading, or as seen one year next to a fuel pump in rico's yard.
  7. not a hearing aid wearer, but i do suffer from tinnitus, thus i cannot make out what someone is saying when there is loud background noise, I only realised that I rely on being able to see someones mouth when they are speaking with me as i can then tune in to what they are saying and hear them, mask wearing made my life more difficult as now anything said just gets added to background noise and i cant make out what someone is saying, that said if a noise does happen and its quiet in the background, I can hear a pin drop at three rooms away, I can also hear a conversation if I can see the persons mouth. so I guess I can lip read, but its more of a combination i use to sort out whats being addressed to me.
  8. anyone on board Broad Ambition as its marked on a plate at the helm.
  9. I used these 3A DC voltage converters, 5V output from any voltage from 6V to 24V, I mounted these in my home made battery banks, the biggest problem is that some devices need the correct fast charger as the device communicates with the charger to regulate the charge, thus tieing it to its branded charger. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401679400171?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
  10. I hesitate to offer that the catches will be the same as every year for most fishermen, hours of sitting watching a float to catch nothing more than a few tiddlers.
  11. who probably stole it from Griff
  12. just trying to work out how hire boats will fit a sailing boat in front of their rudder, perhaps after the weed cutter on the prop has chewed it up?
  13. then you also have the shy self centred variety, often known as the introverters :-)
  14. we do our 'lads' week in October, all 24 of us and 4 boats
  15. or its a database software program
  16. what, - they have taken them down from last year already?
  17. the new 'stealth' speed camera boats?
  18. water depths for the thurne - https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/boating/navigating-the-broads/water-depths/river-thurne, and for hickling https://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0026/180746/DEPTH__Hickling-Broad-and-Heigham-Sound.pdf it may be a bit out of date as the last time it was surveyed outside the marked channel was 2014
  19. I do love their skippers manuals, a nice lot of history in them too
  20. lovely to see so many boats on the water, and so many happy faces
  21. probably the seals are designed to work in compression, when you go astern the boat is being pulled along by the prop shaft, so the seals are no longer compressed, this may be curable by lessening the amount of play fore and aft in the prop shaft, when you have a wiggle going the seals will be struggling to seal the shaft.
  22. yes, but all the boats behind me werent very happy
  23. I can still remember the day cruising on the bure and turning up the Ant, heading along at the speed limit with everyone passing me, only to find out i had the gps set for km/hr rather than mph.
